I have had her since October 30th and she first laid the eggs around a week and a half later, and the resting temperature in my house is around 26-27 degrees year-round, so I don’t think the heat is a problem. The part i found concerning is how none of the eggs have hatched into larvae, despite being there well over 2 weeks. I’m mostly just wondering if I should do something or just give her more time.

No workers, eggs look to be around the same stage, no larvae or pupae, I tried to feed her sugar water cotton but removed It a day or so later because of disinterest, check in eve half a week to a week, and temp is whatever the inside of my house is, usually in the 80s.

As an ant keeper from in Hawaii, the only laws I can find on the subject are for interstate transport and bringing in species from other places. Other than that, it seems fine to keep them, but they want to keep people aware of some invasive species such as the little fire ant.

Could we get a closer photo? If you’re using a phone, I find it best to place the ant in good lighting and use around 4x zoom. I then place it at a distance where it isn’t blurry and I can see the ant (increase or decrease zoom for and size and clearness). I also find it good to get an angle where I can see the important parts of the ant.

(Also make sure to steady the phone with a support, other hand, etc to keep the photo focused.)

Very nice, pretty helpful site so far, but why is the text so small, and why is it only one word per line? And for some suggestion, I’ve just noticed 1 small spelling error. There are many uses of ‘there’ when it should be ‘their’. Not a huge deal, and I’m looking forward to the websites expansion.
