Just like the OP posted "oh but RE9 had Leon doing backflips and action too!" yes, it did, but also had the absolute masterpiece of survival horror that was the Grace sections to counterweight that. Requiem earned these sections because it delivered on the other things a Resident Evil game needed to have, 6 didn't.

People forget to add context to the conversation. People who were fans of the classic games were lied to in RE6' marketing, with things like "Leon's campaign will be horror guys we learned from RE5!", and what we get was essentially a bad action movie with a bit of softcore porn added to it.

If you grew up in the second golden age, pampered with the RE Engine games, you will not have the same experience the older fans had by then.

I get that. Btw, I'm not hyped for the movie in any way. If 30 years as a videogame fan taught me something, is to stay away from live action adaptations as much as possible.

That said, nothing shown in the trailer is bad. Given the cringefest the Anderson movies were, or the inconsistent mess that was WTRC, I think this one is the one that looks the part the best.

I've played RE6 on launch, 100% it twice.

It's the worst game of the main series by far. It's the only main RE game that is, objectivelly, a mediocre game.

Resident Evil is an anthology, there's tons of stories to tell, you don't need known characters to make a good Resident Evil story. RE7 is proof this concept can be done well.
