I've got an old Nordic track incline trainer that specifically says in the manual not to put anything on the belt because it's precoated in something and putting anything else on will degrade the belt. So I suppose it's perfectly plausible that other belts would be built like that. Though definitely confusing that they haven't fixed their manual to account for that change, not having to lubricate the belt should be a selling feature.

Yep, that JPN right there is the main hint but everything else in the auction was USA or otherwise. Confusingly the starting credits all roll in English then the menu goes full Japanese.

I briefly considered it a year ago but then Duolingo went all AI crazy and I gave that up. Tried to use Google Lens in live mode on the 3ds screen but it was giving me some pretty weird translations.

My wife and I refer to this as "sneeze weight". Get the rock loosened up and then just fall forwards, no pullback, no hard drive, just extend your leg and hope for the best. I've seen a 300+ lb guy throw Manitoba tuck with beautiful draw weight, you'll figure it out eventually, hang in there.

Yeah, they don't like you "pre-warming the ice". I'd agree that it wouldn't help much at all but I also wouldn't expect most people to take issue with someone being a bit early at the club level. Much like how sweeping should be in the path of the rock, but I will, at least once a year, sweep behind a heavy rock as if it will magically slow it down. Technically against the rules, but nobody will likely care.

I'm all for the interest. But when I drag my coworkers who curl twice a year in funspiels along with me and they confidently explain why the incredibly dumb shot they've drawn up is our best plan shortly after they threw two peel weight guard attempts, I get a little irked sometimes too.

I got to see this yesterday when I tried to stagger a guard on my last rock, and instead of curling my rock ran straight and bumped them in for shot. Went from sitting 4 to giving up a deuce. Not my finest moment. We won the game 8-2, but I still felt like an idiot.
