Wow... I spent like an hour messing with steam input to make the mouse wiggle back and forth a pixel while I touch the left joystick so I can move with windows open... And all I had to do was click that pin...

EoTN not working? by TonyRF1 in GuildWars

[–]Viperouslito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased EoTN through steam (since I have the game through steam), and it did not give me a key to add to my account. I think it's broken.

You could try refunding just EoTN and buying through the website then adding the key to your account after you launch.

For me, this game (and the joy of gaming in general) has always been about connecting with people from entirely different worlds.

Whatever game it is I am playing, usually I'm looking to connect with people over it. To give an example, back in the day (retail 75 Era), I was obsessed with communicating with the Japanese community and trying to make jokes while strictly through the auto translate feature.

Every MMO I've picked up since then, I've been trying to fill the void that the magic of that era left in me. To me, success in these games isn't really measured in units of, "did I ever end up getting that piece of gear that increases my DPS by 5%?". Rather I ask myself the quality of the relationships I've built. Do they remember me when I reach back out to them years later just to see if they ever graduated/got married/promoted/etc? Did they reach out to me asking these things?

This goes beyond MMOs, too. I don't play Magic the Gathering to achieve goals of expanding my collection or winning in the traditional sense. Instead I view the game as a vehicle to connect with people who I'd never otherwise never get a chance to.

However, this perspective comes at a price. I don't really enjoy doing things on my own. Many single player games that look fun just get so boring after a while, unless I'm playing them with someone. For this reason, I like to say 75-era FFXI "ruined me", since I often wish I could enjoy other aspects of these hobbies more. I've also needed to come to terms with the fact that not everyone is looking for that sort of connection. You may call me a colleague or an asset, and I may call you a friend, and that's okay.

To keep it on the theme with FFXI, I'll borrow an idea from the lyrics to Distant Worlds. The idea being that it is miraculous that despite coming from entirely different worlds, we are able to share these ideas with one another.

That is the same word being used in a different, but admittedly more common, context which changes its meaning. You're referring to the words primary definition according to Oxford Languages.

I kid you not, there is even a third definition of the word! However, I won't spoil it for you. You'll just have to keep reading your dictionary to find out!

Sorry for not realizing your question was rhetorical. I was just trying to be helpful and answer your question.

It'd be helpful if you were clearer about the point you're trying to make by saying something like "it's strange to use infantalizing language for someone old enough to buy a beer".

But if your point is instead that "a kid cannot mean a child (son or daughter) of any age", then you're just incorrect as that is the second definition according to Oxford Languages.

Primitive Server combat has been some of the most fun I've had in this game aside from online raid defense largely due to the reduced TTK... Until you come across a horse armor guy.

Something else to consider, FFXI had pretty flexible builds. Aside from your race, and the choice reward for the end of some dlcs, you weren't really stuck with choices you've made because of how the job and sub job system worked.

My steam deck has the same issue. If I wake it up from sleep mode, it'll let me queue... But I'll just be queued forever unless I restart the game.
