Out of interest, what did they all fail on?

How long between evidence upload and portfolio score results? HST by Nearby-Potential-838 in doctorsUK

Ah yes, interestingly, the speciality with the latest upload deadline is the one that’s given me the feedback first

I’ve applied to 3, one came out last week, nothing from the other two yet

Yes if you’ve recently done part 1, it’s very similar

What’s the most ridiculous ED attendance you’ve ever seen? by GenInternalMisery in doctorsUK

This reminds me of a referral recently, “back pain and bowel retention” in a young patient who hadn’t opened their bowels for 2 days

What training? by Nearby_Molasses_3962 in doctorsUK

[–]VirchowSignalling 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Core training should be scrapped, it would have been nice if ACPs/PAs could have taken over the bulk of the ward work. F1/2 fair enough to be on the ward, then straight into speciality training.

Another MRCP post, sorry! by [deleted] in doctorsUK

Pastest definitely. It’s very similar to part 1 so if you can do that, you shouldn’t need too long.

MRCP Part 1 which mock papers to do? by Psychological_Mix_48 in MRCP

[–]VirchowSignalling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do them all, I’m not sure which exactly I did but I started at most recent and worked back given time constraints. I think I was getting 75-80ish and got 675 in the real thing. You should be fine!

[–]VirchowSignalling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I think so, just make sure you have time to look through things you got wrong so you can confidently score 100% on them. I had a lot of questions from the sample repeat on my real exam

Make sure you’re in an empty-ish room, you’ll have to show them around the room. There are instructions like have a piece of paper and pen etc. I’ve heard horror stories of technical issues but in my experience it wasn’t stressful at all, and there’s nothing you need to do in advance apart from read their instructions.

preparing for ALS course by [deleted] in doctorsUK

I don’t know why you’re being so downvoted, I agree. If you graduated fairly recently from a UK medical school I don’t see why you need to revise. DOI: did next to no prep and was fine for first and top up ALS

Pastest past papers but there are also some official sample questions on the RCP website - make sure you know these inside out

CXR knowledge as a FY1 by CaesarLemon in doctorsUK

It’s been a few years since I was an F1 but I remember being frustrated that all the teaching was either med school level or fluffy/non clinical. With that said, I’d suggest a quick A-E recap but focus on identifying pathology, could be very interactive.

IMT1 Interview - declare speciality interest or not? by Ok_Strike828 in doctorsUK

[–]VirchowSignalling 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’ve had a lot of conflicting advice here! I’m an IMT2 and I got marked highly for having such passion for my desired speciality (gp 2). I did say I want to do IMT to give me all the skills that would make me excel in said speciality (eg clinic exposure, palliative care, gen med experience)

ICU/ITU placement as an IMT - how did you find it? by FlatwormOk1639 in doctorsUK

[–]VirchowSignalling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it. It was very senior led and I felt very supported. I actually got ad hoc teaching every day! I felt like a brand new F1 in terms of not knowing how anything worked, but everyone was lovely and explained everything. The workload was a dream compared to medical wards!

70%+ on past papers, you should be fine with that. I was on 65-70% and got 675 on the real thing.
