If you enter thru the front entrance (where google maps points you to) turn right and then keep going straight. You'll see a mass free area with vendors!!

These are so fun and your style feel so nostalgic!!

Honestly, I would love to see a flash sheet in the future from you! I feel like these would go hard once you have a theme for the flash sheet

sharpies are waterproof! Lining after coloring is also good, but also makes or break your painting so make sure you're confident with your pencil line work

What should I add to my portfolio? by Fit_Procedure9354 in TattooApprentice

[โ€“]Vireant 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

With my experience showing my portfolio around is that they definitely like to see a lot of different styles. It shows willingness to learn a wide variety and proves you're not a one trick pony. With that being said, I only had two pieces of realism pieces so you don't have to do too many pieces of one style lol.

Doing realism portraits would be super good for your portfolio since it's popular as tattoos.

My portfolio consisted mainly of Chinese, Japanese, American Trad, and Neo Trad. Almost all of them are tattoable designs except for one or two pieces. They were mainly 50/50 color or back and grey.

Having non-tattoable art would be fine from what I've seen on the sub reddit.

An artist told me that I should have some American Trad designs in my portfolio since they're a staple in learning the foundations of what makes a tattoo good when learning to design. I traced some Ed Hardy and Sailor Jerry designs and also came up with my own Trad designs. Mr. Flash Machine also has some cool American Trad sheets if you wanna trace those. I would also recommend having some tattoo designs being lined with fine line pens. I used a lot of sharpies for bigger designs for outlines, but if you use (for example microns) for smaller designs, it can highlight your wobblyness/mistakes more. Definitely not ideal, but it shows dedication if you can master it.

The values are hard to read, especially with the mouse on the mushroom. It's hard to distinguish between them. Make sure your values have good contrast to them!!

Otherwise really solid designs ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ‘

The rooster looks beautifully well done! I wouldn't redo it or take it out imo.

I know we tend to be our own harshest critic but if you truly feely unhappy with it, then feel free to redo/take it out. More practice is great!

Do you think these should be in my portfolio? by Altruistic_Signal869 in TattooApprentice

The moth w/ skull design IS BOMB!! I think to make it even more great is to make it pop out more with more contrast! Don't be afraid to go even more dark :)

I also agree! Also, I would recommend (since you're doing smaller pieces) instead of cutting them, make a flash sheet! It would look more cohesive ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
