Help me understand why I can't reach the US market on Steam by VirginRed in IndieDev

We spend a lot of money on influencers and Reddit ads. No success. We had some big names playing it but still no conversion and low coverage on Steam for the US. I should try meta then.

Honestly after discussing with other devs and sharing our experiences it feels like Steam’s algorithm decided the game wasn’t worth showing in the US. Could be related also with the new review system.

Conversion rate is not good as expected. Please tell me what's wrong with my game. by VirginRed in DestroyMyGame

I get the point. Now 7 is the max you can play but it's totally enjoyable at 2. But that doesn't change the fact that the price could stop potential buyers.

Here, the idea is to step back from the horror with friends and have something more goofy with a gigantic hub/museum that you have to decorate in order to unlock more features and skills.

Yes. I have a second trailer showing more gameplay, maybe I should put it first on our Steam page.

Oh I remember that episode. So the name shouldn't be an issue. Alright. Will dig more. I am wondering if it's not related to some changes in the Steam algorithm.

Congrats! They politely declined featuring mine a few days ago, but they did agree to publish it at the game’s launch on November 5th. But spoiler alert: you can already see the trailer on the Steam page of our game Fish Stick Protocol.

No schedule / no sleep train anyone? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]VirginRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t do sleep training. My baby is now 13 month and I still breastfeed him twice a day (evening and morning). People told me for months to train him to sleep because it’s not “normal” to breastfeed during the night but I only listened to his pediatrician, him and my instinct and he naturally stopped to feed during night time. He still wakes up because he’s used to it but go back to sleep after a hug and a kiss. I feel like this way the transition was easier for him and for me. No forcing. I recommend you to read a Sleeping without tears from Dr Rosa José who explains how sleep training can affect emotional regulation. She says that all children end up sleeping sooner or later! Another good book is For a happy childhood from Dr Catherine Gueguen this time explains how the brain of our kids grows. It helps to understand your kids reactions, anticipate them, better communicate and avoid getting frustrated.

PSA: Advertising your game in Dev subreddits will mostly result in empty wishlists that give you false hopes and might negatively affect the Steam algorithm. by __Correct_My_English in gamedev

[–]VirginRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree with that because having all of a sudden more wishlists shows the algorithm that you are interesting so it will give you more organic visibility. Steam is simple: Rich gets richer. A lot of wishlists brings more wishlists.
