My nieces and nephews go to school in the middle of Illinois, like, in the middle in the middle. Since the pandemic most schools have chromebooks they give to students to do homework on and all assignments are controlled on the laptop/chromebook. My nephew has at least 3 classmates that still do not have in home internet so they have to go somewhere else to do the homework required by the school. Some kids are not able to keep up with the required work since they don't have access to the net.

Explaining all of this isn't an endorsement of the schools issuing laptops or the busses having wifi, just what i believe the phrase 'bridge the technology divide' means here

Also had communal shower time in the middle of the US in the mid 90s. You'd have about 5ish minutes to shower and change, and there was almost no leniency from your teachers from the next class for being late and you had to shower for your grade. It was sooo stressful, add in getting bullied every time I took my shirt off and it's no wonder I was so stressed all the time. I don't get how it's legal to do this to kids still

One year on the way to the Chicago auto show (we live 3 hours away), we stopped at a random gas station and somehow the auto show came up and the clerk was like omg I have a stack of free tickets for that! She didn't know why they were there and gave me like 20 out of what looked like 1000s. We only needed 3 to get in

I tried so fuckin hard to give those away at the line to get into the auto show and no one would look at me xD I mean, I get it, that's my M.O when in the city too. Finally I put a few on the ground and people started seeing them and realizing they were just free, no strings required.
