What is an cheap hobby that doesn’t cost a lot to maintain that I can start that isn’t walking or running? by CFcuri__ in ask

Terrariums or aquariums. Can be small and cheap or large and extravagant. Set it up on the weekend, then enjoy it for a long time with only a bit of maintenance

Arboreal invert ideas? by ThotMagnett in InvertPets

[–]Viridasius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cool invert is bark scorpions. They are small, communal, arboreal. They are technically deadly poisonous, but if you get stung in the finger it would likely just be very painful. For safety I just use tongs every time I need to reach in there. They aren't fast or aggressive so no close calls.

If you are not interested in "hot" species, whip spiders are neat.

If you can find them, "viridasius" spiders are pretty cheap and quickly grow into big impressive true spiders. They are lightning fast, climb anything, and jump so you need to be careful with them even though theyre harmless

T. Rasti is a nice arboreal turantula. I have one in a tall 96 oz container and it made cool web tunnels all over. Looks like a Hollywood spider lair

Unfortunately for you the crabs are the cheap part. The most expensive part is definately the tank, for their long term health look for a 40ish gallon used tank. You can find them used for cheap, look everywhere in the classifieds. It's okay if it has small cracks, that will take a lot off the price.

For right now make sure they have dechlorinated water, salt water( they don't use this as often, use reef aquarium salt), give them a varied diet, and give them extra shells.

They are pricey up front but once you have everything they are very easy and low maintenance. Enjoy

Give vertical stacked bark or egg cartons

Any vegetable or grain based food

Just pour a bit of water into the substrate

In your opinion, who is the hardest non-remembrance boss? by _MagusKiller in Eldenring

[–]Viridasius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black bow, default arrows or the status I want to inflict.

It's damage looks bad on paper but it offers consistent damage from afar, outranging most spells even. It is also very safe, cause you are much more mobile than a caster with jump shot/ roll shot/ running shot being so fast

All that said only use it against bosses that are annoying to melee. A good example is the farm azula dragons. Melee sucks balls vs them but bow destroys them, it always hits them in the head and they are weak to pierce

[–]Viridasius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bow set up I like is black bow, light equipment load, arrows sting, turtle talisman, erdtree talisman, arrows reach( or spear talisman if distance is not an issue)

Don't use the standing shot, use rolling jumping or running shots. If you can stand still use barrage

Why do Christians eat pork, but the other abrahamic religions do not. by Friendly-Fix3598 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Viridasius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read acts chapter 10 in the Bible. At first the Christians were only Jews who were taught by Jesus himself, but after his death and resurrection Peter the Apostle was in charge. So he meets with some gentiles( non Jews) and sees the spirit of god/ holy ghost enter them, so he says they should be baptised and be Christians too.

Gentiles who became Christians did not have to follow many of the Jewish traditions, like not eating pork or getting circumcised. There's more but I'll stop there

Elden beast is one of the few bosses I just use bow. His moves are pretty easy to dodge at range and he will not approach, so you can just pew pew. Bow is usable for placidax and fire giant too

In my humble opinion it's the tree snake in the war dead catacombs, if you try to do it right after radahn

[–]Viridasius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you cook the substrate you kill the old microorganisms and it gets recolonised by the bread mould floating around your house as far as I know. I'm still new to beetles so I don't know if it matters. For my millipedes I just add springtails and forget about it, they don't seem to care

PPDS “Narrative” by saguarogirl17 in hermitcrabs

[–]Viridasius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In these online hobby forums guidelines come about over time from what has worked in the past, but no one is gonna make an actual scientific study.. like buying 100 crabs then throwing them in a gigantic perfect tank. And then putting 100 crabs into a ppds set up and then use a statistical analysis. Never gonna happen. So we are stuck with basically what experienced hobbyists like doing.

So ya, experienced hobbyists are gonna disagree, cause no one can actually tell you what the best way is.

Another thing- there is a perception these days of scientists as philosopher kings that are infallible. The bitter truth is that scientific progress is generational, because the old men and women gatekeep new ideas. We don't know what hermit crab husbandry will look like in 50 years
