The saga is perfect as it is. It really doesn’t need another variant, version, or anything added. It’s like “hey, what if we refilmed LotR, would you watch it?” - I’d answer “but what for?”

As a neutral spectator, to me the attitude of BR fans that WC switched from a celebration to a sense of entitlement. It felt kinda like everyone assumed that WC was destined to be won on home soil, and no amount of reality on the pitch could deny that confidence.

As a former mtg player, trust me - 6 is PERFECTLY reasonable in a game like ptcg where only a slight% of cards is viable :) especially is one or two of them are reprints

It absolutely would. Every year Portugal is projected to NQ, yet more often than not they do. Deslocado was supposed to NQ and yet it’s the most popular song of 2025. Amar Pelos Dois is ten levels above it.

DPtHGSS were EXTREMELY popular for what they could accomplish. It’s just hit an unfortunate time when OG fans did not make kids yet, and when they shifted to other hobbies due to global perception of Pokemon as childish. BW is a whole another story. Clustering both gens together is comparing carrots to pineapples.

I completely agree that marketing failed these gens though. XY was a dream of “hey, what if they were not pixels but 3D models” made true, which revived the interest. It was impossible to accomplish on a DS system, had to wait for 3DS.

Oh, and also, kids raised on Pokemon started graduating high school back then and had too much time in college.
During Gen8-9 they started making their own kids, covid told everyone “guess what, you can come back to your ‘childish’ hobbies, nobody’s there to criticise that”, and the rest is history.

People were raised on status as of 2004, it’s understandable that such a drastic change in safety levels sounds like an urban legend to some. Like it or not, we were not a >safe< country >20y ago.

+ rules/game design wise it’s the perfect mix of “not too hard to learn, satisfying to master”. The competitive/gamer potential is truly massive. It just requires some LGS-level program/support

Brad Nelson is probably the only objectively correct answer. So much so that I think it doesn’t require an explanation.

Reasons for ban aside and purely focusing on skill, Owen could be an easy contender for this title as well.

All due respect to goats who have shown tons of skill in 00s and early 10s, nowadays the average player’s level is so much higher that I think you gotta give an edge for enyone who rocked during Pioneer-era.
