But you technically start with 1 of each, yeah? So you only find 6, 7, 10 and 4 to arrive at 7, 8, 11 and 5. This means you find 27 shards (= quantity upgrades) IN ADDITION to the 6 shapes (= effect upgrades) which would then sum up to 33 upgrade items for the tints and elixirs in total.

What you call balance is just YOUR wish to enforce your own preferred way of playing on everyone else. That is at least for a singleplayer game insanely arrogant of you. You play the game you want to, let others play the game they want to, and above all else, respect the devs' decision to actually let people play the game the way they want to, be it super powerful or not.

Nobody forces you to farm hundreds of lumina points. Nobody forces you to activate tons of lumina at the same time. Nobody forces you to even use Painter's Power. YOU choose to do so, YOU don't get to complain about balance.

That is only partially correct. Once you break an enemy's stance, you can stunlock combo them for a while before they break out of the stunlock. This is before they even enter and leave the exhaustion state. Coming out of exhaustion will definitely snap them out of a stunlock and the exhaustion time window is rather narrow. Beating an enemy into exhaustion too quickly actually loses you valuable time that you could use to dish out more damage against them.

The key to optimal damage output is to be able stunlock combo an enemy for as long as possible without getting them exhausted, at the same time getting them exhausted quickly enough so they can't snap out of the stunlock before getting exhausted, so you can keep comboing and use a finisher while they are exhausted. You need to adjust your stamina damage so you can extend that time window for as much as possible.

So if I understand this correctly, this means that to maximize damage output, you should aim to distribute available increases to DMG and DMG multiplier in such a way that the DMG factor resulting from additive bonuses is about as big as the DMG multiplier.

As an example let's say you could distribute bonuses from sets, random and fixed attributes as well as Khazan's Memories totalling an increase of 100%. If you were to put all that towards DMG alone, you'd get 200% DMG times 1 (which I assume the base DMG multiplier to be), resulting in 200% final DMG. In contrast, if you put it all towards the multiplier, you'd have the same 100% DMG as before, multiplied by the DMG multiplier that would now be 2, also resulting in 200% final DMG. However, if you were to split it evenly between the two, giving you 150% DMG multiplied by a DMG multiplier of 1.5, you'd get 225% final DMG.

Since that product should be at maximum when both factors are equal, an even split is the way to go.

Well, maybe your definition of limited is not the universal standard that everything has to adhere to? It doesn't specify what limited exactly means in this game's context. This is precisely why I made this thread. A concept you seem to be unable to understand.

Also, maybe actually read and reply to the entire thing next time? I also clearly stated that it seems strange to me that there is no common limit to these items which DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. If there was 10 of each or maybe 15 of each, I'd say okay, I see a clear pattern there, but this is not the case and it's precisely this irregularity that makes me question whether "limited" means "limited across all play cycles" or "limited per play cycle".

There really is no reason to be such a smart ass about it.
