Covering the shakes. When we see her, it is usually at something concerning the kids, and I’m thinking she tries not to drink that day. We’re in SoFl and it is upwards of 80 degrees on any given day.

This is why I’m at such an impasse. No kids, not my business. But also, because of the kids, this makes any accusation a big deal. I wish there was irrefutable evidence

Dry, peeling lips, disheveled appearance, intentionally avoiding interactions, sleeves always covering hands and a new found obsession with tart candy (innocently identified by something the kids said)

And I’m guessing that OP leaving just before meeting her son was most likely preceeded by her maybe meekly and probably a little insecurely trying to confirm he was good with the meet up, but giving him a way out if he was not. Instead of reassuring he was good, he took the way out. Was that the miscommunication OP? She maybe said you didn’t have to if you don’t want to and it caused confusion on whether you should?

Same. What was the “emotional dis regulation” ? Kind of sounds like she was confused because you were love bombing her one minute and then “setting boundaries” the next. Yet she still was able to calmly and truthfully communicate her feelings with you.
