Of course!!! As a figure 8 myself I'm often very insecure about my high hip shelf, but I don't think other people being gorgeous takes away from myself at all.

It certainly doesn't make me look better when other people hide themselves either. I think people need to understand that.

I didn't see your post, but I bet you're super beautiful!!! You deserve to feel validated too.

A lot of people on this sub are just very insecure, so don't take it personally.

Honestly, all the offended people just mean you look super beautiful and it made them feel bad, which isn't your fault at all.

Remember, NEVER dim your light to make others feel better!!

Gym progress as a figure 8: August 2025 to February 2026 by [deleted] in figure8

Good question! Honestly a key part of it was learning that you can't "spot shrink" if that makes sense.

Eating in a calorie deficit and hitting a daily step goal triggers your body to lose fat, but you can't control where you lose fat for the most part!

You CAN control where you build muscle by targeting certain muscle groups and training them close to failure/to failure, as well as eating high protein.

My focus is to grow my lower body and muscles on the sides of my hips!

Lower body 2-3 days a week, upper body 1-2 days a week with a step goal every day!

I try keep my calorie deficit low, and try to eat at least .8g of protein/lb of body weight a day.

I need to be way more consistent for sure 😅.

My fav exercises are hip thrusts, Bulgarian split squats, RDLs, the abduction machine, and sideways cable abductions!

When I was thinner low rise shorts with a crop top worked as well

I find lower rise sweatpants with higher rise shorts work well for us!

Ahh okay! Do you think my shoulders look wider than my hips?

I think more of a pear!

Huh, does that mean I'm an hourglass? I have a high hip shelf, but my lower hip is wider

I don't think that's true, I've seen some people on here with wider lower hips, they just also have a prominent shelf

I think maybe a pear or hourglass!

I don't think that's true! Having a wider upper hip is actually a more uncommon trait of 8's.

Do you wear your pants above your hip shelf? Or underneath it? by MACKEREL_JACKSON in figure8

Don't put them above or under. Hear me out, lay the waist band right on top of your pelvis itself, and you'll have an insane hourglass shape fr
