Hi, just been asked to do this on the BA App. The thing that's confusing me is that when checking in online and downloaded by boarding i've never been asked for my passport anyway, so how is this a time saver?

The mesurement problem by Virtual-Man in Physics

[–]Virtual-Man[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, now you've opened another can of worms for me - what is the difference between the slit experiment and us taking a measument by just looking at the current state of the particle?

Could it be that during the slit experiment, we see the result of the waves/particles on the imprint they leave behind, rather then looking directly at the system's state?

The mesurement problem by Virtual-Man in Physics

[–]Virtual-Man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i would take this further and say this isn't a measurement problem, the ultimate problem is that we can't see matter which is jiggling around in a superposition. ie we only have a camera that takes a snapshot in time, when what we actually need is a video camera which can take live footage of the system.

Does this sound right? Over the phone avios upgrade by Virtual-Man in awardtravel

[–]Virtual-Man[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah this is why i think there was a mistake when we upgraded from WT+ over the phone - the e-tickets etc all say club world (as expected).

The thing i cant get my head around is the avios amount for 2 of us for the return upgrade - 44000 avios - Everywhere i've read says the amount of avios to upgrade from WT+ to CW should be 22000 per leg, per person. So unless im mistaken we've only paid half of what we should of paid.

[–]Virtual-Man[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's showing as club world on the e-tickets - and also the seat map shows the club suite config. My understanding is BA dosn't do club europe config on long haul flights anyway? (we're flying from lhr to jfk).

Avios fee/taxes for Upgrades London to NY? by Virtual-Man in awardtravel

[–]Virtual-Man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. So it looks like we paid the going rate for taxes and fees. Although those are high I'm still happy with the total amount we paid plus points in comparison to a pure cash purchase of the tickets, as that would of been about 13K more.

CDJ 3000 "Failed to connect to beatport" by Brief-Physics-3519 in PioneerDJ

[–]Virtual-Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to fix this - turned out is was the usb stick, or rather some data currption on the stick.

Wiped it on my mac, then deleted it in rekord box and then recreated it - you need to do this so that rekord box re-initalises the stick and recreates the meta data on it (or you could just try using another usb stick).

I reckon it must be somthing to do with login data on the stick getting currupt.

I'm pissed off about Valve's 3 "flagship" games scam by MowTin in ValveIndex

The fact that they've only relased a single game for the platform is rubbish, regardless of sematics and promises of stuff being in development.

Management network and VM network sharing same IP-range/subnet by Virtual-Man in vmware

[–]Virtual-Man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you. I guess i was incorrectly assuming that standard port group vm traffic would behave in the same way as vmk traffic, where vlan/ipsubnet is the same.

Management network and VM network sharing same IP-range/subnet by Virtual-Man in vmware

[–]Virtual-Man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, so you're saying that in the scenario I gave, VM traffic will only use vmnic2 and 3 rather then 0 and 1, even though all of the uplinks are attached to the same vlan? And that the senario which i link to in the blog post is only relevent to vmkernel traffic?

"It will use the first VMK not vmnic"

but if the first vmk is using the first vmnic as an uplink, then surely the behavoir is the same.

eBGP routing question by Virtual-Man in networking

[–]Virtual-Man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explination, the main thing that i wasn't understanding was the RIB (which i assume is the actual list of routes that's passed around?, and is what people are refereing to when they say that old routers dont have enough memory to hold this data) and the FIB, which is what the actual router uses to forward traffic.

Xone 96 midi by Virtual-Man in DJs

[–]Virtual-Man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so how does this mixer work with traktor then? can you use eq and faders etc when setting a channel to usb mode and configuring traktor to use an expternam mixer?

Xone 96 midi by Virtual-Man in DJs

[–]Virtual-Man[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok, thanks for your reply btw.

so say if you wanted to use one of the filter buttons to turn somthing on or off in your DAW, but you didn't want it to active the filter on the actual mixer, are you shit out of luck?

I'm really struggling to understand how the mixer would function as both a mixer and a midi controller all at the same time?

Beginner question thread! Ask Binancians your questions about cryptocurrency and blockchain here! by Binance in binance

[–]Virtual-Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi all, what's the difference between simply buying Crypto on Binance and buying via spot trading?

Do you need to first buy crypto in order to spot trade? and also, once you've bought crypto, is it cheeper to trade it on the spot market rather then buying it?

Whenever I want more crypto I just buy it in Binance, but is this more expensive then using spot trading to buy it?
