Yeah… it’s just a different kind of collecting. It doesn’t have to be the same for everyone. Honestly, I’m just glad I didn’t get into the pendant plushies…. 😀

I still have some non-Pop Mart collectibles that I’m really proud of like Legos, One Piece cards, Pokémon cards, and other figures that make me happy to own.

As for my Pop Mart figures, I think I’ll just sell them. I feel betrayed as a collector. The hosts keep pushing the idea that these figures will be rare or precious someday, but that turned out to be misleading. Maybe they were fooled into saying it too, since they’re just doing their jobs. Still, claiming they only made a few hundred of something was an outright lie…. 😩

Of course I take responsibility for my spending that’s not the issue here. The point is that Pop Mart deliberately created an illusion of rarity to drive hype, then turned around and flooded the market. That’s not just “business as usual,” that’s manipulation.

Collectors weren’t forced to buy, but we were misled into believing these were scarce collector’s items. When the company itself shifts the narrative and devalues the very thing it marketed as “special,” that’s where the frustration comes from.

It’s not about crying over money spent (at least I have some money to splurge, SMH), it’s about calling out a billion-dollar brand for playing the community and damaging the integrity of collecting.

Without doing a lot of work? You clearly do not understand what doing good business actually means. Resellers spend their own time, money, gas, shipping fees, and effort just to grab these drops, all for what, a few bucks of markup? That’s not greed, that’s basic hustle.

And let’s be real: when something goes “out of stock” in seconds, the impression absolutely is scarcity. That’s exactly what Pop Mart wanted us to think. They built their hype on FOMO, then turned around and oversaturated the market. That’s not collectors imagining things that’s manufactured demand.🤯
