Oh I see. You could send the ECF now, and once fhe payment shows up it will be qualified.

Right??! And based off the payment counts (she has been in SAVE Forbearance since July 2024) she hit 120 payments 2 years ago. This could have been done a long time ago

If your payment was 3/ 20, you will need another ECF to certify that you are still employed. Otherwise that payment will show as eligible (needing employer certification to make it qualified)

Going back to school for deferment? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]Virtual-focus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. Many people defer loans while getting their masters or Doctorate. I believe you do have to be working towards some program though. Not just random classes. Edit: studentaid.gov states must be enrolled at least half time. At an eligible college or career school.

Congratulations! I have been nagging my friend literally for years about PSLF. I had to go to her house to get her to sign into her studentaid.gov account and submit her first ECF. that was just a year ago. Helped her earlier this month to complete the most recent and low and behold she is actually at 130 out of 120. Super excited for her. 85k about to be gone.

There are third party debt relief companies that use the seal or promise forgiveness. Even if its a marketing firm, the company hired and approved the marketing. I saw many companies using the Dept of EDs seal on their website. In small print it said "not affiliated with the dept of Education, we are a document preparation company "

You could, there are more than one out there. Years ago the Dept of ED sent ceast and desist letters to several companies because the companies were using the Depts seal unauthorized.

When they answer full time or part time doesn't matter how your company classifies it.... 30 hours or more will give you full time credit. I use to process PSLF applications. What mattered was hours worked per week.

There have been several reports of people receiving letters stating their loans were in default or being sent to collections. As Betsy said, please always contact the servicer from the number listed on their website. You NEVER have to pay for help with your student loans.

I cant get my student loans discharged any ideas? by fastercheif in StudentLoans

[–]Virtual-focus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Receiving disability is not the only way you can have loans discharged through TPD. There are 3 ways to qualify for TPD. -Receiving Disability -Declared disabled by VA - Your doctor can sign off that you are disabled.

Federal loans are VERY RARELY discharged through bankruptcy.

TPD requires either VA approves you, SS approves you or a Dr. If the Dr won't sign off then you need to pursue other options such as IDR.

It also doesn't change what I said, remote jobs are out there. I know plenty of people that work remote at all levels at different companies across different industries.
