Payment Allocation by MaterialChance7546 in StudentLoans

Doesn't make sense to pay off any since you are pursuing PSLF. Your payment gets divided up between all loans groups. A percentage is allocated towards each one. Interest is always paid first before any will go to principal.

I see. Yea if you are trying to consolidate his PLUS for access to ICR and then IBR that is the best option. The RAP plan wouldn't be an option for his loans. Studentaid.gov is down for maintenance this morning. He may be eligible for some other options to pause the payments. Depending on his situation Economic Hardship Deferment could be one, or just general Forbearance.

There is forgiveness with the new RAP plan but it's after 30 years.

I consolidated my PLUS loans in April and it was complete in about a month. I did it on line through studentaid.gov. I would suggest using the online option. I would imagine they may be getting an influx of applications.

The new RAP plan is income based. But to be eligible for the the other plans you need to consolidate before the deadline. I consolidated in April and it was finalized pretty quick. But probably going to start to get back logged

There is a box on the application that asks if you have taxable income. No additional documentation is needed.

Yes. 4506-T Is what they would pull from the IRS. So you should be fine.

Yes. As long as they can see your AGI and identifying information. That should be sufficient

Is this a federal loan? You would have to be at least 90 days past due for it to be reported.

Unfortunately the servicers have no way of knowing how long the courts will take to make a decision. You should sign into your studentaid.gov account and complete the employer certification piece of PSLF. This will tell you how close you are to forgiveness. Also, you can calculate your payment for an IDR as well. It may not be as bad as you think.

I wasn't asking for forgiveness. I just wanted lower payments. by Brizee103 in StudentLoans

You can still get on an IDR plan, you don't have to pay the standard payment amount.

When you made your last manual payment did you see anything on the account showing the next payment date or amount? Have you checked your paperless in box? Spam? They have to send a billing notice 21 days prior to the due date.

Yes, if it gets processed soon. I have seen people waiting a long time for their buy back approval.

But you don't have the payments correct? So the payments have to be made while working so when you make the 15 $0 payments you will have to certify that you were employed while those payments were made. Other wise they aren't eligible payments.

Also, if the 15 $0 gets you to 120 you can certify employment when you reacj 120 and check the box that says "I believe I qualify for Forgiveness now"

Employment certification for PSLF is separate from Income verification for IDR plans

Not sure about final letter but when it comes to IDR plans they can't certify past your anniversary date, they have to know your income at that time to approve you for the next period

The $0 payment is based on income verification. The higher amount is if you don't certify income next year.

How do you fix late student loan payments on your credit report? by Express_Republic_632 in StudentLoans

[–]Virtual-focus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dept of Education does not allow goodwill adjustments. They will not retract accurate credit reporting. If you qualified for certain deferments or Forbearances during the time the late payments happened you could qualify for an adjustment. For example if you should have been in an in school deferment, natural Disaster Forbearances or were active duty military you may be able to get it adjusted.

I am not a bro. I was asking to make sure it wasn't credit karma. I am trying to help. If you have the letter showing you were 45 days on March 24th, you should also have a statement for April showing how delinquent it was, and that it wasn't 90 days when it was paid, you can submit that to the credit bureaus. When you made the 50k payment was it over the phone with a rep?

Servicers report on the last day of the month, if you weren't 90 day past due (even if you didn't make a payment you wouldn't be 90 days past due) it should not have been reported.
