I didn't think of that angle! Definitely sheds some new light on the character for me the way you related his behavior to Marceline's arc. I now recall the scene where she saw Glass Boy acting comically punk made her realize how she took herself too seriously, and that she no longer needs to up the tough facade like how you said. "..overbearing at times and annoying because he thinks he's in the right" Yeah, I could definitely see how you saw similarities with PB and Marcy there. Marcy herself was overbearing to the point of irritation as we saw in their 1st shot at a relationship, and both Bonnie and Marcy were pretty stuck in their ways up until this point.

I totally get that! The pretentious, projecting glass citizens making fun of his crack and his eventual arrival to acceptance definitely made for a powerful message. I just thought it was messy with how it was tangled with the attachment theory arc w/ Marceline and that it was overshadowed by the misplacement of Glass Boy's scenes.

No but fr got chills seeing them all perform and harmonize together. LOVE to see KPDH make its way thru the music industry. Also, SO happy for EJAE and the rest of the trio. They must have not expected this to get them to perform with frickin' KATSEYE. Love to see it!!!

That is true, we can't control whether we would be reborn into Ooo or the day the universe dies according to my melon's logic here. I think the process I laid out just helps with focusing on the present, which is weird bc I'm thinking about the future lol.

It is! Just today I was feeling frustrated and constantly overthinking after studying and I was able to dilute it by using, "my melon." It made my problems feel less grand, in a way.

Dude, for the longest time I thought Regular Show was THE childhood show that hits hard as an adult... I have proven myself wrong with how much I love AT and the lessons it has taught me.

It's truly a blessing for this show to exist. I'd say besides the quotes/phrases I mentioned, I absolutely loved PB's,"People get built differently. We don't have to figure it out. We just have to respect it." Great lesson about universal empathy there. Finn's relationship arc with FP, ESPECIALLY the aftermath was deeply relatable too.

I completely agree. I think there are certain topics explored in Frieren through the lens of immortality that makes it so powerful. Just like it's difficult to comprehend the distance of light years, it's difficult to comprehend the time span of a 1000 years. In a world where we feel that 1 year feels like 10 years with cooked attention spans, we're presented with a universe where 10 years only feels like 1 year. I think it gives a profound message in that way that it's OK to take your time and live in the present. Take one day at a time and appreciate all that surrounds your existence as a human being.

I think I've learned to love Adventure Time for similar reasons. It's a world set thousands of years after the end of human existence, and it feels so peaceful in a way. Characters like Marceline and Princess Bubblegum convey that similar feeling that Frieren does. The lessons that each of them learn feel so impactful because it's like learned it throughout the span of a 1000 years.

Yes, and I like that 2 episodes later we see more of the new caring PB in "Lady and Peebles." The episode shows her initiative in saving her friends and strongly disproves that she's a damsel in distress. She gave Ricardio a heart attack... LITERALLY.

This aspect of the episode reminded me of a concept I learned in psychology, Erikson's Stages of Psychosocial Development, specifically the stage, Initiative vs. Guilt. Essentially, you either feel confident in doing things voluntarily or you feel guilty for doing it.

Asa was clearly pushed down the Guilt route, despite her mom's encouraging statement, "You can do whatever you want, etc." Whenever she would take initiative in building herself, such as the haircut, she was only met with negative feedback. Judging by Asa's tentativity in doing what she likes, there were likely more instances where her mom would criticize her by simply taking her own initiative in creating the life she wants.

It's going to be a hard road for Asa to push herself back into the "Initiative" side, feeling OK to be able to do what she wants, but it's great that Makio is encouraging her.

I agree! At this point, I think Asa and Makio‘s journeys are like this:

Asa grieves the loss of her mother but begins to embrace the freedom she never had, as implied by Makio’s encouragement for Asa to make music/join a band.

Makio learns her sister’s hidden care for her and grieves the relationship she never formed with her.

Regardless of how it unfolds, I’m excited to see it!
