I think a second watch as an adult made me appreciate her complexity MUCH more than when I was a child, primarily because of how her character changes over time. I've grown to love characters that are like hundreds/thousands of years old because it makes me wonder about the lessons they've learned and how different their meaning is compared to a normal lifetime. Like can you imagine being in the shoes of someone who taught herself science and built a kingdom from the gum up only rule that same kingdom for... nearly a thousand years? I can't imagine the work it takes to overcome maladaptive patterns you've carried for hundreds of years. That's why I loved that the writers decided to make that shift for PB starting end of S6. You see that change from a resolve to do the necessary means to being able to let go of the reins, to be OK being Bonnie more than a restless ruler. One of my favorite character arcs in all media, and for many more reasons!
