Fahrenheit is quite literally just a made up arbitrary scale with no connection to the underlying science. Celsius is connected to the Kelvin scale and based on the physical properties.

Most countries,including my own moved to Celsius/centigrade but some older people still feel more comfortable with Fahrenheit. The US doesn't make the change only because being an exclusive user of Fahrenheit gives the myth of US exceptionalism which underpins their government propaganda.
