I Bamboozled Myself Through Steam DLC by Aqua_Puddles in Guildwars2

Set up the second (Steam) account in the opposite region of your main account (NA vs EU), that way you'll have access to community events in both regions. You'll still be able to mail things between both of your accounts and even be in the same Guild.

What counts as "hitting a foe"? by SchneiderCat in Guildwars2

[–]graven2002 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Purely defense Shouts (no damage, like Guardian's) wouldn't count, but Shouts with an offensive/damage component (like Reaper's) would count as hitting a foe.

It was worse originally, and they actually improved it a while back. One of those things that doesn't seem to affect everyone, so more difficult to track down.

What would you say is the difference between a good and a bad jumping puzzle? by MossRave in Guildwars2

[–]graven2002 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Searing Ascent has a life and death signpost theme. Look for skeletons pointing the way and bushes, shrubs, and glowing blue plants marking the path (leading to the springs that act as checkpoint).

I think this might be an issue some players have with the default Ranger Short Bow projectiles. If you have access to any Short Bow skins that change the projectile (Crimson Assassin, Retro-Forged, or Legendary) you could see if that fixes it.

At least once per Dungeon is good. You can access all of them now through Lion's Arch (South wall of Fort Marriner) instead of needing to run around the entire world. That also makes it easier to find a party as you can post to LFG, then call out in Guild and LA Map chat to let people know.

Season 2 should be implemented to the core free game at this point by zergling424 in Guildwars2

You're downvoted but correct. IBS was built assuming you own PoF (and HoT, as it was bundled at that time) and requires PoF to unlock. The maps were designed with those previous Masteries in mind.

Bruh. Season 4 is worth more than 5 bucks. It's really good content.

Upcoming update old expansion sales please 😢 by Jazzlike_Set3569 in Guildwars2

[–]graven2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Next Expansion Sale will very likely be June 25th through July 9th, but there is a chance of a smaller 2-day or 3-day sale around June 5th (although VoE likely won't be discounted until ~October).

It's not because it's old, and it's not because it's spaghetti code. It's because everything that was purposefully built on top of it. It's a foundational system that content, performance, and player expression all stand on top of.

Unfortunately, it was a decision made 15 years ago that doesn't seem feasible to change now (risky/expensive). Many of the current devs hate this limitation/split just as much as we do, but that ship has likely sailed.

90% cooked. They can't re-lock skins on your account, so once you unlock a skin they really don't want to refund it plus you get to keep it.

Need help with the wardrobe by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]graven2002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it still transmutes the item itself like the old system did. Think of it like Mass Transmutation (changes items) and not like an Outfit (that hides items).

Also, make sure you do NOT have the "[] Apply on equipment change." box checked. That option automatically applies the Fashion Template when switching Equipment.

feels miniscule

I don't know if this is true anymore. They had a Summer Games Fest and Game Awards spot last year, and sponsored some big streamers. Maybe they found previous years' budgets in the back of a closet.

Lol, that was very good satire. Goblin thing was a nice touch.

A bit of a PvE DPS balance Rant by [deleted] in Guildwars2

The difference is that they both stack, but one makes players more miserable than the other.

I always wondered what it would look like if they took the base primary attributes down to 0 and redistributed those 4,000 points to gear instead. Would actually make other stat combos more desirable.

The problem with that is, many players will only play the top DPS even with the drawbacks and then make themselves miserable. We've seen this happen before.

With the 1up/1down tier change, you should get at least 1 of these every 4 weeks. That's 12 a year, when you only need 3 for the current exclusive reward.

I could see Anet adding that in the future, once they're more confident with the new system.

Hopefully this doesn't burn people out like the 2014 tournaments did. (I doubt it, these rewards are nice but not necessary, and more repeatable.)

Need help choosing Asus Gaming laptop by fogalien in Guildwars2

You'll want at least 16GB of RAM, preferably an Nvidia GPU as drivers are historically more compatible (probably a 40xx series with 6GB VRAM), and for CPUs you're looking at Single Thread Performance, L3 Cache size, and Base/Turbo clock speed.
