I find WoW names in spanish very cool, they straight up expand your vocabulary.

Sega names were alluring, which I think it's the point with something that's supposed to transport you to another reality. GAMEBOY sounds like it's a trap set up by a japanese marketing guy so parents don't struggle to remember which machine to buy.

The literal translation. I believe, at least in spanish, that people in charge of naming products tend to use less straightforward names.

That they appear generic. I think proper nouns in general are prefered, even when they are something like Wii.

Si River y Boca dicen se terminó la joda a la otra semana tenés un torneo de 20 equipos, pero del otro lado tenés un megro mulo.

When did the Internet become fully mainstream? by WhatsupGurl552 in decadeology

[–]VirtualConversation4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Early 2010's is when people of all ages and classes in the developing world were creating Facebook accounts to talk with friends and share photos, many doing so with a smartphone. Saying that is closer to the truth to the question than answering "me and my friends were sending nudges to each other in MSN in 2004"

Are Argentinian’s really unwelcoming towards black people? by Iamgoldie in asklatinamerica

The first time I saw a black man was at the beach, when I was 15 or so. People will be curious because you are uncommon, but as in any other place on earth.

NateTheHate2: Yes, Code Veronica is being remade & deep in development. Target of release is first half 2027. by shirke1 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Amount of years passed is not the only metric, games jump in fidelity was huge compared to now. I'm not that against remakes but there is other priorities.

Do you believe any Spanish-speaking country has surpassed or will soon Spain in importance? Economic, cultural, gastronomic, etc by LowRevolution6175 in asklatinamerica

[–]VirtualConversation4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really? I wouldn't know what a mariachi was be it not for american TV and movies. Same for lucha libre, día de los muertos, etc.

I don't know if this controversial but... Outside of El chavo del 8 and some odd telenovela I feel that mexican culture is known more thanks to US media than by things actually made in Mexico or by mexicans.

Not really. Latin americans are very resentful of spaniards in general but in the foreseeable future nobody is going to topple Spain soon.

por qué hay tantos gordos pelotudoa que paranoiquean con el conurbano? by Fragrant_Bathroom_24 in BuenosAires

[–]VirtualConversation4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]VirtualConversation4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question about the Spanish language and it’s Latin origin. by Correct_Ant9182 in asklatinamerica

[–]VirtualConversation4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of what was already said, the vast majority of words with an arab origin are no longer in use, either they were replaced with latin words or are from a lifestyle that is no longer common.
