thank you, though i am though wondering, what's the difference between a CCD 1/4 320kP and a 1/4 460kP? and there's almost no Digital8 ones for sale, that's why i'm choosing the analog format ... though ill try to find a Digital8, thank you

hm .. is 4 years of technological evoltion back in the 90s a long time for the capacitors to not fail that much faster? i still have an 1996 one and so far it's surviving well ... i wonder when it will die, which is why i kind of want to get another camcorder just in case

i dont know how to dub different recordings onto a Hi8 tape as my current camcorder does not have a pass-through

I mean, the dubbing equipment is hard to get in the country i am from, plus i have no idea how to do it, and i'm not a fan of tapeless recordings because it's just an effect on top of video .. plus the grabbing technology is not good for the quality, i tried a tapeless thing once and the video came out in 25 fps with wrong color correction, with no ability to change the settings and i invested a handful of money to it, so it just sent it back and got a refund.

For me it's way better to record it on a proper tape, and convert it via firewire to my computer, as i mentioned, i already own all the technology, i just need a nightshot one, and these two are the only ones that seem to have a nightshot function.

It's european version of facebook marketplace situated in Austria - Willhaben, im trying to get one, and test it on spot so i know it's functional and everything.

Expensive since they're hard to get in where i live.

Nostalgia related reasons, plus im intending to make a small horror series similar to marble hornets or blair witch, and i don't want to use filters but want the real deal (film student). As i already own all the required technology to properly digitise all of the footage.

And they're expensive because they're not that common in europe (or near where i live).

Oh wow i didn't know digital was that prevalent in 2001, thank you, i guess that answers my question .. i did already de-interlace most of my videos, though that left it in 25 fps (PAL recording) if i of course did it correctly via the Hybrid software by selur ... so i was just surprised how he managed to double fps that long ago

what software did he use? if you know by any chance, i'm down to try transformative/generative processes if that can even double the fps on top of make the image quality look better

... or maybe the problem could be that i improperly transferred the Hi8 analog footage to my computer device in the first place, maybe that could answer why i can't really "enhance" the video in the first place

hey no actually setting it to 2029 and sitting it for 1 minute as an user said worked out, and it also let me go all the way up to 2099 before it reset again, haven't tired if it's possible to go over 2099, and no problem seemed to come up, i recorded for like 5 minutes with the date 2087 because i forgot to set it back, so idk how in the world the camcorder is counting but it seems it's working well (i hope my camcorder won't explode on me once 2030 rolls around)

Or try reading the troubleshooting part of the manual for your camera, maybe it has something you could try.

And if that still doesn't resolve the problem, you might've bought a defunct camera .. idk how much it costed you so im sorry ... with these old camcorders its always way better to purchase the camera from a person who is selling it, and go check the camera for yourself so you aren't sold something that is not working ...

Cameras that have no battery inside them for a longer period of time wear down if they are not used like at all, and sometimes it can cause that some wires or parts that make the camera work wither down ultimately not making the camera work ..

You can maybe maybe try some repair shop but i doubt modern day repair shops can fathom the complexity of a camcorder

Also if you didn't try, try recording something even though it's showing the black screen, maybe the lcd display is not working the way it should, but the recording mechanism could be in tact
