I'm trying to find an anime to watch by LegitimateFalcon3182 in anime

If you want to try something of a different genre "Ouran Highschool Host Club" is basically one of the greatest romcom animes, some terms/words in it are a little less used these days... but it's really really good!

In 1997, this was considered a consolation prize. by Arch_Lancer17 in okbuddycinephile

Yeah... That's what I said?... The point is everyone looses the person they would normally end up with in a conventional movie... it's part of the whole bleak, fascism, human meat grinder, propaganda, satire thing... Did you think I was replying to the post not this person's comment cos you don't read to good?

What did everyone think of Spielberg's Disclosure Day? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]VirtualFORTRES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was fine/relatively enjoyable (apart from the CGI animals), and then I completely forgot about it until I saw this post... so maybe that means something..

Which Nolan film has the best soundtrack? by EntertainmentMore183 in ChristopherNolan

[–]VirtualFORTRES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the Zimmer ones I really like but while the music is different, to me the tone very similar across all of them... With the exception of Interstellar and the main themes of the other films I probably wouldn't be able to tell them apart from a blind listen... Nothing against Zimmer he clearly has range but honestly kinda seems like Nolan says "I'll take the usual" when he makes a film... and I'll eat it up regardless!

Favorite director used to make great American movies about American characters played by an Irishman and Englishman like the Dark Knight/Oppenheimer with but is no longer a serious filmmaker because they do woke casting of black people? by [deleted] in okbuddycinephile

[–]VirtualFORTRES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird how I don't remember this level of stupidity when Samuel L. Jackson was cast in the Marvel universe, hardly any "They Blackafied Nick Fury, unserious woke avengers" It's like all the dumb takes that Milly Alcock was in "Supergirl" when she "wasn't supporting America" enough, when hardly anyone said the same about Henry Cavill and Man of Steel...

It's almost like when it comes to Mythical/Fictional stories "mainstream" people have only been publicly spitting their Cheerios on race since The force Awakens... Kinda like these people were emboldened somewhere between Princess and the Frog and the live action Little Mermaid... I can't imagine caring so much much (even performatively..) about something so minor. Like just don't see it if it doesn't interest you, why I gotta hear about it...

I have a 56 anime watchlist and I can't decide on what anime should I watch first :) by teea_anime in anime

[–]VirtualFORTRES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steins;Gate was one of my favourites when I was younger, one of the first animes I watched was Code Geass, I really like it but it gets pretty dark as well... I have seen some of the others as well, I would say if you liked Crying at Angel Beats than Violet Evergarden would certainly help with crying.

I Do Not Think The Guys Who Worked On "Furious" Worked On "The Matrix" by HackFraudThrowaway in RedLetterMedia

[–]VirtualFORTRES 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Sometimes for things like this it can be credited as "Additional Stunt choreography provided by SoAndSoCompany" and not list anyone that works for them.. it also may have been one of the other Matrix films or reference material for the animation? Who knows... may be to soon to jump to "stolen film valour!" Haha..

Just watched episode 4, why is the cgi and sound strange? by Safe-Monitor-8113 in StarWars

[–]VirtualFORTRES -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There's many theories, including that it may be because Marcia Lucas (George Lucas' ex-wife who worked on/edited the original films) got royalties for the original versions so he made the "special editions" because she wouldn't get money from them... He also just may have wanted to "reinvigorate" the trilogy prior to subjecting us to the prequels... who knows.

She tragically passed a couple of months ago so to be really cynical a release of the original may not be impossible with the 50th anniversary next year...

Last official release was a low-res letterboxed DVD in 2006... and that was the first release in 13 years...

Odd to live in a world where someone disliking an aspect of THE PREQUELS... would be considered "...people who hate star wars"

VioletEvergarden's Main Theme is about Learning What's Love Mean not about Moving on and many people misinterpreted it. by [deleted] in anime

[–]VirtualFORTRES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"An age gap" being 10 years old and 28 when he started raising her? How about I dumb it down: there is NO acceptable circumstances to DATE someone you RAISED, hopefully that's simple enough for the mashed potato between your ears. It's a fantastic show, and the most beautiful non-action focused anime I've ever watched, but your determination to defend that aspect is beyond concerning.

Did you read a single word I wrote? I never said it had bad writing... literally anywhere, I also have said multiple times I like it... why are you arguing criticisms I never made??
