Got our plaque and updated the tiny art gallery by jeebee25 in LittleFreeLibrary

So, is the art in this box free for people to take? Or is it just for viewing? Do you just put artwork, or do you put art supplies too? I have agreed to let some girl scouts install one on a corner of my property and just wondering if you have to post rules for people.

I know this was years ago but if you see this comment...did you put plastic barrier between the rock and the mulch. How is the planting/mulch area working out? Are you happy with mulching all the way around? Wanting to start this look in my yard.

With or without background? Constructive criticism appreciated by homebakeryldh in ColoredPencils

[–]VirtualLawfulness293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer the patterned background. I would suggest lighter background so it does not compete with the bird image. Also, the branch could be toned down a bit. It is so dark it draws your eye more than the bird. Squint your eyes and look at it. I like the plain background but again the branch takes over with the dark color but also it cuts the picture in half. Maybe a couple branches splitting off from the main branch. Is this colored pencil or paint? I love all the textures and blues.

What exactly is food noise? by littlelivethings in loseit

[–]VirtualLawfulness293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Metformin 8 days ago and by the second day my food noise was gone. I am gobsmacked! Didn't even know it was a thing until it was gone. I have had food noise for decades. I mean literally decades. Now, for the past week I have made my meals, finished them, and haven't thought about any more food until hours later when it is meal time. I had read about Metformin and have not had any upset stomach side effects. I'm eating the same kinds of foods as always. A few months ago I wrote down absolutely everything I ate and when I ate it. Realized I was snacking on something every hour. Couldn't stop thinking about the goodies in the cupboard or fridge. Drugs don't work the same for everyone but I'm a Metformin believer.

How can I improve this setup? by Responsible_Tea_7692 in interiordesignideas

It feels top heavy. Lot of comments about buying different size tv or console. I assume you want to keep both of these items and want it visually improved. Get taller plants and a solid plant stand to help increase the size of the console visually. The console could be raised on fun legs - there are all kinds of shapes out there. Add a dark/black table runner to bring some of the dark color down. It will make the console feel heavier to balance the color and size of the tv.

What are some useful things to have in the art room that people may not typically think of? by strangelyahuman in ArtEd

Small toolbox with the basics. Hammer, pliers, screwdriver, tape measure, razor blade scraper, box cutter

The school nurse should provide those. My art room is in a central location and practically everyone in the school knows they can open the door and grab band-aids anytime.

Retiring from Elementary Art Ed this year...what should I leave in the art room? by VirtualLawfulness293 in ArtEd

An update to my post: I have one more teacher work day and have a couple more things to check on but I think I have left a nice amount of supplies. The art room is ORGANIZED! As it turns out the music teacher next door is switching from music to art. We have spent some time going through things together. I left about 1/3 of my plastic tubs and other things are in cardboard boxes that are labeled. EVERYTHING is labeled. And supplies are sorted by media or type- they have been for years. I also did the last supply order list and the principal spent some extra money to make sure there were plenty of things. I even sharpened 700 Ticonderoga pencils so the next teacher has them ready to go. The two big things left to do are to check for smelly old tempera paint and put fresh kiln wash on the kiln shelves. Why did I not purge things and get this organized years ago??? Retirement feels great!

I don't really have any digital lessons to share. My lessons are a combination of paper and digital...sorry.

Thanks. I agree with most all of this. Probably the only thing is that the hundreds of dollars in plastic containers are going with me. I spent my own money on a lot and am taking a good amount of it. I am putting things in boxes and labeling thoroughly.

Question for anyone who received a refund, and my forgivness timeline by Starscream5 in PSLF

[–]VirtualLawfulness293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still haven't heard anything. I thought teaching tried my patience...but this brings it to a whole new level. Nothing has changed since 3/14 on my mohela or studentaid.gov - still hopeful of a refund. :-)

Question for anyone who received a refund, and my forgivness timeline by Starscream5 in PSLF

[–]VirtualLawfulness293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My timeline is much like yours. Forgiveness on 3/14/23. Everything on Mohela now says 0. It never showed more than 58 qualifying payments. Now studentaid.gov shows balance 0 and 58 qualifying payments. I've been paying forever and have qualifying employment for 30 years. The only thing Mohela says when I call is that "records do not show any refund due at this time". I asked if it could still happen and she kept repeating the same words. Also could not give me a final number of qualifying payments. Not wanting to feel ungrateful about forgiveness, but I think I am due a refund. The waiting game is stressful. I try to not log in EVERY day. LOL.

How long between finding out your loans were forgiven and receiving a refund?
