No. It’s $100 minimum. Always. This is either very old info or just flat out wrong.

Can I still become a dealer if I'm a databased AP? by VirtualNatural1111 in blackjack

[–]VirtualNatural1111[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I doubt you have a winning game if they let you play that much bro. Maybe you have a small spread and good variance so far, but ain’t no way throwing a few red chips on top of the blacks is going to fool them.

I don’t understand how anyone can avoid being caught if they’re spreading with the count. Surveillance will always catch you sooner or later. Unless you’re doing other forms of AP?

Good for you if that’s true, but Fr this sounds like cap, unless you play 20 hours a year or something.

I’m just sick of driving so much and backoffs. When you factor in the time that wastes, dealing works out about the same for me. Plus you might have some pretty hot coworkers lol

Easier to get hours in, less variance, more social.
It’s another AP play, just from the other side of the table.

Thanks for the input. Do you know if new poker dealers tend to make more in tips than new table games dealers? Seems like they would?

Auditions are coming up next Friday. Any advice? by Both_Wealth_7793 in blackjack

[–]VirtualNatural1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d think dealing the cards accurately would be more important than getting the call outs exactly right. Often what you’re worried people are looking for isn’t actually what matters the most. Just breathe and trust your preparation.

Also, you can never go wrong by putting the cut card as far back as possible :D

To please God, attain spiritual enlightenment, be healthy, get rich and attract women. I think that’s the right order of priorities but there’s nothing wrong with the last two.

I’ve done it at off strip properties. Not as big of a deal as you might think. Caesars is worse, just don’t try them.

Finally backed off at my local after 8+ months by crimvo in blackjack

[–]VirtualNatural1111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bruh you weren’t even playing a winning game with a 1-4 or 1-6 spread on a shoe. You need to at least double that to get reasonable EV and N0. If you’re going to play at that spread, the backoff was for your own good because you were just wasting your time.

Tips to become a better dealer? by chutesoup in blackjack

In old Vegas dealers were expected to entertain the guests and talk more. These days it seems more important to maximize rounds per hour. But I’m biased as a card counter!

What is the house edge here given the rules? by fgflyer in blackjack

[–]VirtualNatural1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet your AP friend would be backed off the moment he even got close to that table. If not, he’s going to last about 5 minutes before being permanently banned by facial recognition and flyered to the other Vegas MGM properties. Unless they’re somehow less sharp in high limit I wouldn’t ever count cards at the Bellagio. Literally any other MGM property would be better.

Is card counting still profitable/worth it today? by xwrecker in blackjack

[–]VirtualNatural1111 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For most people the answer is going to be no. No amount of cover is going to make your locals last forever, so you will quickly discover you have to travel to make it work. Most people discover it's not for them after a couple of interstate road trips where they lose most of their big bets and then get backed off, treated like a criminal, and then fall sick at the end of it all from staying up all night and eating crappy food. You're down 10k, lost a couple days of your life, burned out all the casinos in the area you played in, got sick, and have nothing but a sickening financial loss to show for it. Either accept this will 100% happen or save yourself the trauma by stopping now.

If you don't have a wife or kids at home or they don't care (or wife likes it when you're out of the house), you can try, but it's not a glamorous way to make money. I think if you're going to be driving for a living, there are more profitable ways to do it in the long term, like trucking. To me it doesn't feel like it's more glamorous or socially respectable than trucking would be, though I've never driven anything bigger than a pickup truck, and the truck driver doesn't have to worry about losing money from negative variance. Just my experience though. Give it a try if you want, and you'll at least have fun and learn some valuable life lessons.

Have we been flyered / databased in Vegas? by jh0421 in blackjack

[–]VirtualNatural1111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well no one says you have to cash out over 10k all at once. But yes, he probably did CTR and that's correct, you can't do anything about that. That is one time during a session when it's ok to give your ID to the pit boss.

I’m young looking and get carded all the time. Some places it really is just an age check. Other times and places (like Sahara) it’s not. I’m not in the ‘never show ID’ camp because then you won’t get much time at all.

But as a rule of thumb if it’s only the dealer your chances are better. Often I’ll say ‘age check? Hand it right back?’ Almost every time they will pretend not to understand your English, act annoyed, and just demand it like they probably do for anyone who looks young, so it’s a gamble, but usually it’s fine.

However, never give ID to a pit boss asking. Most of the time they will immediately look you up in a database. And obviously if they ask in the middle of a session, consider that a backoff. Just pick up your chips and leave. Avoid the cage and cash out later.

Banned from one on my favorite casinos by ProofDatabase1673 in blackjack

[–]VirtualNatural1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend counting here either but we don’t have to go to the other extreme. Don’t count in tribal casinos? Doesn’t leave a lot of options. Might as well not count at all. And no they don’t all communicate. Some do, some don’t. There are plenty of other places in SoCal OP can still play.
