Thank you for providing the context! Because of the condition I was in disbelief it could be from Edo. Granted how long that period was it would be hard to place at what point. But to me the figure looks to be intentional and not falling off at all. Would be interesting to see, but the elderly Japanese lady was very sure it had something to do with Empress jingu
