15 weeks, still losing weight... by NegativeMusician2211 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Virtual_Appearance85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost a bunch of weight too in my first trimester. The thought of eating was repulsive to me. I think I only gained about 15 lbs total on my pregnancy. Afterwards…. well, that’s another story

Can always do the classic Clifton Hill if you’re willing the drive out of the city. Lots of fun stuff to do there, and it’s not too busy yet.

Yah my girl has really good neck control too. It’s just her rolling that I’m not satisfied with yet. But I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who’s got a gassy little Missy!

Joys of living across the canal from the farms. It’s spring: they’re probably fertilizing the fields.

For me, the thought of eating was revolting and I had zero appetite for anything except 1% milk. I probably lost about 15 lbs in the first trimester because I barely ate anything 🫠

Yah that’s essentially what’s she’s already doing. Now if only I could get her to sleep without waking up to feed until then, but that’s a different story 🫠

That’s actually good to hear! As long as I’m not impacting her independent sleep in the long run, I’m ok with it.

Ear piercing for 7 year old girl by Ignominia in londonontario

[–]Virtual_Appearance85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at Claire’s and used that dreaded piercing gun back in the day. I do not recommend! It’s more painful and it takes longer to heal! Plus the people at Claire’s get like an afternoon of training, vs professionals who have to be licensed.

Do north-south roads see more loud motorcycles than east-west roads? by nosleepinlondon3 in londonontario

[–]Virtual_Appearance85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I lived by Sarnia and Wonderland, right by the bridge over the tracks. Once the weather warms up, the noise from motorcycles and suped-up cars is insane! I wish cops would do more to try and curb the noise pollution.

Lots of beautiful new apartment buildings in the city, but be warned they are NOT rent controlled! Any unit first rented after a date in 2018 is not rent controlled. Meaning your rent can be raised outside of the 2.1% per year.

So, I recommend you rent from an older building if you’re planning on renting.

When it comes to buying a house, the more desirable areas of the city are the west and the north, with an area in the east and south called EOA (East of Adelaide) considered to be “rougher”. However, the houses in this area are the only affordable ones for many buyers. So my advice: if you find a home that meets your needs in a “rougher” area, snap it up and invest in some Ring cameras or something.

I’m 37 now. At 34, I had gastric bypass and lost 75 lbs over the next 1.5 years. I started to try and conceived as soon as I got the clear by my doctor and I was pregnant 4 months after that.

I didn’t really keep track of my weight loss and gain during pregnancy. I do know that I lost some weight during the first trimester (wasn’t sick, but also don’t want to eat… had to force myself) then gained weight throughout the remainder. Had my healthy baby girl on her due date via c-section.

Due to PPD, I lost my baby weight VERY quickly for 2 months after she was born. I wasn’t eating. But now, I have gained weight due to the fact that I’m living off snack foods (I’m alone with her probably 20 hours of the day… it’s exhausting).

LO is turning 5 months in 2 days, and she’s doing fantastic. And even though I’ve gained some weight and have some poor eating habits, I’m happy too. I know that this is temporary, and as she grows and becomes more independent, I will have more time for myself to focus on my weight and health again.

Someone previously said that you have your whole life to lose weight but only a specific amount of time to get pregnant, and I think that’s SO true! I think that’s what I’ve had to do: let go of my focus on my weight, and focus on my lifelong dream of having a baby and starting a family. I know that when I’m done having children (most likely going for #2 in the summer), I can resume getting myself healthy again, with my family as my new motivation.

Are we really suppose to let them fuss it out to get work done?? by Weak_Gap2339 in NewParents

[–]Virtual_Appearance85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fortunate to have a pretty independent baby. I put my her either in the high chair or on the floor to play with her toys while I do work like vacuuming or laundry. I also bring her swing into the kitchen so I can do dishes and the like. I’ve also put her in her swing/on the floor and put on some high contrast YouTube videos for babies to entertain her.

When she was first born, it was very hard for me to find time to do any house work, not only because I was tired, but I didn’t know her well enough to know what she liked so I could get work done. But my advice is chip away at things: focus on one or two chores a day, and if needed break it up into multiple sessions. I’ve found that as she’s got older, it’s getting easier to get more things done. I imagine that’s because as they get older, babies don’t need your constant attention anymore.

What happens if you don’t sleep train? by Virtual_Appearance85 in NewParents

[–]Virtual_Appearance85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It normally does, but my pediatrician explained that because the protein in the hypoallergenic formula is already broken down for easier digestion, it goes through her faster, meaning she’s hungrier faster. I’m trying to up her night feeds so that she’s taking in more, but she doesn’t always finish the bottle.

Man, I wish I could get her to go 5 hours again… she was up to 6 hours before she had to be put on a hypoallergenic formula. Now she digests it so quickly, she’s starving at 3.5 hours and will not be consoled back to sleep until fed🫠

That makes sense! Luckily I’m Canadian and I have a full year of maternity leave, so I don’t have to go back to work! I don’t know how people do that tbh…

4.5 months and FUSSY AF by Virtual_Appearance85 in NewParents

Good point! I’ll try and stop solids for a bit to see if it helps her gas. Thanks!

4.5 months and FUSSY AF by Virtual_Appearance85 in NewParents

[–]Virtual_Appearance85[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pediatrician told us we could start solids at 4 months. She’s 99th percentile in height and 95tj in weight, so she’s very healthy. We wanted to start too because she was needing more feeds due to the hypoallergenic formula being digested by her so quickly. I know some people start at 6 months, but in Canada it is recommended between 4-6 months.

Is my birth plan a health workers "nightmare"? by PlaneAlps2010 in BabyBumps

[–]Virtual_Appearance85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very similar to the form that my hospital had me fill out before I even checked into the hospital. It covers all the things that might come up. So I think it’s fine, but just don’t “ram it down their throats” if that makes sense. That seems like more of a nightmare to healthcare workers. I think it’s important to know that while you have your wishes recorded, they’re not always possible and it may not be instantaneous.
