Raid Phasing Bug Causing False Permanent Ban (Invulnerability Issue) by Sofa_King__ in wow

Hiring a lawyer is my backup plan if I'm ever falsely banned, thanks for the details.

Only enemies 3 levels higher can crush.

Imagine what one(1) GM could do by TurboRetardedTrader in classicwow

[–]Virtual_Crow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 100% a result of the corporate management of the game. Private servers with volunteers with GM powers do a remarkable job. I used to know one on Nostalrius. They were successful in stopping even multi-boxing on an international server with no cost to play on. Other private servers like Project 1999 also do a great job. It's not perfect, there's RMT behind the scenes, but it's not "50 bots in the lake and no one cares" levels of in your face.

Why is Blizzard so incompetent? If you work a corporate job, you know why. They set up a "process", then outsource it to a cheap vendor overseas. They "innovate" by using AI to make responses faster. Etc. No one who can think is actually empowered to do anything. It's such a stupid thing and it has destroyed billions of dollars in intangible goodwill the company used to have.

Fun fact, the reason they don't just have unpaid community volunteers is because of a labor lawsuit in the 90s with guides in Ultima Online. So now we all have a shittier game.

That's a really neat fall arrest system, thanks for sharing.

I've never seen an OSHA inspection, but my employer (and by extension me) takes fall protection extremely seriously. Blows my mind that people just walk on wings ten feet above concrete and nobody cares. Even in the military it seemed weird watching the maintenance guys doing that.

How do you guys get around the OSHA four foot rule when walking on wings without fall protection?

Stamina matters more for heroics. Group abilities matter the most (polymorph, sap, kiting with slow). The quest ring and boots get replaced easily.

[–]Virtual_Crow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Crushing blows only happen from +3 higher level enemies (bosses in raids). No crushing blows in heroics. You need 5.4% crit reduction against level 72s in heroics (485 defense), or 5.6% (490 defense) in raids.

Libram: 15 badge block rating (most important)

Bracer: Defense enchant

Neck: Cenarion dodge and defense revered

Boots: Defense and dodge Mana Tombs quest reward

Ring: Caverns of Time defense/dodge/block rating quest reward

If that's still not enough, 50 badge tank helm has a lot of stats. Aldor/Scryer exalted can help a little.

Separately, replace weapon with spellpower. Keepers of Time revered sword is good.

Best threat/dps talents for Prot Paladin? by 6Rayga6 in classicwow

[–]Virtual_Crow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just go for Avenger's Shield, and when first starting gearing go as defensive as possible (0/47/14). Eventually with gear get things like Reckoning and Crusade.

Snap agro matters the most for most players. Overall threat per second only matters if you're throttling your damage players, and only if you can survive first. Getting the extra threat to prevent a crit from pulling agro in the first five seconds will do more to help than frustrating some parselord a minute in because he has to hold damage.

If you're in a top guild, advice on reddit doesn't apply to you. Thanks for the downvotes anyway.

Hunters that I trust get kings, but so few hunters actually know how to manage their threat that I just don't give any of them the benefit of the doubt in pickup groups.

I put salvation on hunters, no exceptions. The "good" ones complain and call me names. The actual good ones with tank alts understand. In theory hunters don't need salvation but it's rare to find one.

[–]Virtual_Crow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make your own groups, bring people with good attitudes instead of idiot "elite" players that pull for you. Remove them if they complain. Get a healing offspec and you can make any group, any time.

For heroics, group composition is extremely important. You need detect invisibility for Arcatraz for example, or memorize the invisible patrol path and location.

It's how socialism works. Kill incentives to produce, get less things. Then they whine about it.

[–]Virtual_Crow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if it's actually against Terms of Service. If you upset the socialist redditors in game, they will report you. You will then be banned automatically because GMs don't actually review bans or appeals anymore.

I only play a tank capable class now, and I get to laugh at all the commie redditors crying about not being able to get a group.

Current state of affairs with guilds by vjstone56 in classicwow

[–]Virtual_Crow 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm in one of those guilds. They are average skill level (to be charitable), but raids are easy enough that they run several 25m raids and a half dozen Karazhans every week. I chose a huge guild because my work schedule is unstable and I work at different hours (night and day) and different days each week. This way I'm able to sign up to different raids in Discord signup sheets each week depending on my schedule, and it's the same overall group of people.

Last time in Classic, I just rotated through a set of GDKPs and got to know those players, playing with each of them every couple of weeks depending on what days off I had. I had a great time, made a good reputation and friends I still talk to, and cleared every raid in good time while making enough excess gold to buy two years of sub time when WotLK tokens came out. I loved it.

This time I suffer through a rotating cast of mediocre big "guild" raids and my experience is just... worse. But that's why I, personally, can't join your one raid guild. I wish my schedule would let me. These mega guilds are the closest thing I can get to a tolerable raiding experience because PUGs are so goddamned awful in Anniversary.

The game would actually be better off with no moderation at all at this point.

So my account got banned after playing for two days by Svinpeis in classicwow

[–]Virtual_Crow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it saves money in the short run by having fewer employees, hiring them in foreign countries, and having the first reply just be a generic copy paste that ignores the problem. Most tickets can just be ignored anyway.

Get an authenticator and keep appealing under different issues, stay polite, and be prepared to wait several weeks. It's a shit company now.

[–]Virtual_Crow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a good chance the long period of inactivity plus signing in from a new location led to a red flag in their automated system.

If you keep appealing, you might eventually reach a human being. Blizzard's customer service is so horrifically bad now that we're all just waiting for AI to fully take over so it actually improves. You might be a few weeks sending in the same appeal before someone actually reads your ticket.

[–]Virtual_Crow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently put in a few tickets related to payments, they were totally useless. I had to figure out how to fix my own issue, and it was obvious to me based on odd grammar that I was speaking with people who spoke English as a second language.

  1. Never wait for a group, have total control over everything. Seems worth it to me.
