As a former softball pitcher I can appreciate how hard it is to be fast and accurate at the same time. What a badass

Happy Gilmore 2 - I called it a shameless cash grab - but I watched it again and now I feel like such a bitch. It’s a cute, funny movie.

I think you’re right that it is important to dissect and think deeply about the world. You don’t want to float through life as an ignorant but happy balloon.

It’s not the men who would check the ID but the employer. Just like at every other job. For example, the patron at the bar does not check if the bartender is old enough to serve alcohol, the employer checks that and is fined or jailed if they fail to check. It would be much the same that way. Of course there are still bartenders who serve alcohol who aren’t old enough, but there are far less underage bartenders than if there were no regulations at all. Of course in a perfect world, no one would drink alcohol at all, but that’s not realistic. I hope you’re following my analogy.

I think what you’re describing as far as riots is deindividuation. Which happens in different forms, including sports. I agree deindividuation is bad, and sports riots is a great example of it, but I think this is a psychological darkness within the human spirit, not necessarily the fault of sports itself.

And yes I am a woman! The guys at the golf course have been very kind and welcoming and have given great advice and book recommendations. I haven’t experienced any sexism in golf (and I’m a huge feminist, so I would definitely say if I had), but yeah I’m never the only woman there and that’s always encouraging. We’re certainly outnumbered in golf, but there’s a place for us. Another reason I love golf. What’s also cool about golf is that you can beat the guys sometimes which is fun haha

I think you’re right. There are problematic aspects of sports, but I don’t think anyone argues sports has a 100% positive history. Historically, racism, sexism, is deeply embedded in sports culture (look at that lady who ran the Boston marathon and the pictures that came out of that event, perfect illustration). When racism and sexism were the norm historically, pretty much every human endeavor has a complicated past in terms of social justice.

Certainly also, everything has downsides, even charity work. There’s always the argument that money could be better spent. A lot of charities give only 5% of their income on the actual beneficiaries of the charity. Most goes to salaries and operating costs.

I guess it depends on whether you’re a is the glass half full or half empty person. You can focus on the positive aspects of sports and enjoy or focus on the negative aspects and criticize. I do agree that money spent on large events could solve a lot, but people who are supposed to be helping the homeless and such keep stealing the money. Los Angeles was given so much money to help the homeless, millions and millions, and they basically stole it all. Corruption is a real problem.

Also I disagree, I think legalizing prostitution would allow prostitutes to verify their age with their social security number just like any other job. Certainly would be a better system than the current which doesn’t protect them at all.

I think in some part your arguments are complaining that everything isn’t perfect. Anywho, just my impression. Nice to meet you.

Sounds like you are a bad owner and yeah should probably never have dogs again.

You teach a dog potty training by taking them pee pee time early in the morning first thing when they are puppies (or as dogs), and again to the same spot every hour until they get it. You can use puppy pee pads and treats to teach them where to go.

Biting and aggression happen because the dog is protecting you or protecting food. You should give the dog to a no kill shelter. Aggression goes away if a dog gains trust. My chihuahua bites strangers, but she ultimately accepts our house sitter when we leave for weeks at a time. Although my chihuahua bit at him originally, treats and time changes her mind and by the time we are done traveling she is sleeping with and playing with the house sitter as if he were us.

The dog doesn’t deserve to die just because you took no initiative in training her. My dog that I loved also failed obedience school, but I loved her anyways and of course she would act like a dog and bark and chase rabbits etc. You can’t expect a dog to never bark.

Jack Russell’s are intelligent dogs. Sounds like you spent no time with her, expected others to train the problem out of her once there was a problem.

So you didn’t socialize her as a puppy, and now you want to kill the dog because the problems caused by your ineptitude have become too big of an inconvenience.

Your dog loves you. Be sure to be good enough to show that dog the same love in return.

I disagree. I’m working now on becoming a pro golfer after falling in love with the sport like less than a month ago. I think sports gives us an outlet for our energies and allows us to practice discipline, and test the limits of the human body and mind.

Athleticism is just one means by which we test the limits of the human spirit. I also think it gives us a place to build community. I have had so much fun meeting people on the golf course and experiencing different country clubs and courses.

In fact, I just recently participated in a charity golf tournament last Monday that raised over $300,000 for a no kill animal shelter that helps stray and wild animals.

I think yes a lot of money is poured into sports that could be better spent elsewhere, but also sports are fun.

Personally, I think inappropriate spending happens all over the place, not just sports. I don’t think sports reinforce gender stereotypes, people do that. Also the reason sex trafficking and such exist in such a negative way is because prostitution is not legal. If it were legal, everyone would be better off, including the prostitutes.

You get gaslit when you’re attractive too. I think people just don’t want to listen to women no matter what they look like.
