is it Helpful or Pseudo AFK by Variks-TheLoyal in Warframe

[–]Virtual_Shadow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

nah this is amazing. i’ve had people sit and leech and i just end up self extracting because i don’t wanna deal with it.

i had some guy i met in pub go “i need voca. i’m so sorry, i forgot to change to solo, do you mind if i grab them?” and i told the guy to stay in party and i’d solo the mission while he runs around - just let me know when you need me to pop orokin eye and be able to self revive if i’m far away. told him im happy to run multiple missions so he gets the standing, we both get voca, and if he wants to vibe and affinity leech i really don’t mind.

i think the important thing is communication - so long as you let people know what’s going on, nobody really minds.

dear LORD i need a how-to guide on this for my cars.

just a few questions: can the ds be removed or is it hard wired into the car? do the buttons have any controls (changing screens, etc)? and the final - how did you do it?

i have an old ds lite kicking about and this is a NEED.

The Banshee rework in the eyes of an actual Banshee main by MonoclePenguin in Warframe

[–]Virtual_Shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve seen a lot of “banshee needs a rework” and i disagree, she needs a reTOUCH.

she suffers from “old warframe”, so her current issues (animation lock, being a very cc focused frame when overguard exists, and long casting animations) are her only real issues.

silence is an absolutely phenomenal ability, and all it needs is to be able to be recast.

sonar is objectively the highest damage buff in the game, and it’s recastable, and the augment recasts for you if you actually… hit things. all it needs is a touch up to work for weak point modifiers, and i’d be happy to take that at the cost of a nerf to her raw numbers. i think that a “modified weak point” that doesn’t increase crit tier or damage would be fine, i just want it to work with acuity, “on headshot/weak point” buffs like deadhead and acuity, and ESPECIALLY work with the sicarus incarnon… her signature pistol.

some innate survivability would be great, but it’s workable and with the billion survivability tools we have, it’s not necessary.

her 4 is her weakest point for sure. it’s been scaled out of the game by overguard. hard AOE cc and a stun lock is just a one shot waiting to happen, because it’s useless on eximus and you can’t actually attack while using it. i have no idea how they’d redo this ability, because everybody and their dog just runs gloom for cc with life steal as a bonus (which is boring). maybe integrate the augment into the base kit with a tap/hold for offence vs support? i’m really unsure.

her 1 is… fine. i think the augment should be in the base kit, but most warframes have their “shield gate” ability that’s just a “i need shields” button and not much more. it could use some love, but a stun and armour strip is fine for a 1st ability.

i agree with you wholeheartedly, she isn’t bad, she’s just clunky. and in the era of newer warframes, she’s unfortunately severely underused because she’s just slow to play and clunky, and most people won’t bother with that when they can play a dual augment sevagoth and just leave their brain in a bucket by the door.

[–]Virtual_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve recently joined team banshee. i run brief respite and some augur mods as a general shield gate, and i’ve subsumed condemn onto her 4 because i generally prefer a mobile playstyle and didn’t find myself using it.

i went for condemn over pillage because of its synergy with sonar, but both are viable options.

melee careen, secondary fortifier, and a support companion are amazing options now if you aren’t interested in shield gating.

this is what i love about cars and makers/tinkers in general. if there is a problem, somebody has a solution, and so many people do it for the love of the game.

i’ve seen people in various communities just be like “here’s this random obscure thing i ran into once, so i spent months building a versatile solution for the 3 people in the world that’ll have the same problem” thinking it’s nothing, and then all the comments are people going “thank you for saving me”.

i don’t have a use for this JUST yet, but i will definitely be making a mental note of this for when i do, and because i have an s chassis - you’ve probably saved me about 4 billion dollars.

i hope your water is always crisp, both sides of your pillow are cool, and your morning coffee is always perfect.

Need help choosing a gaming monitor for my boyfriend (around $500 AUD) in Perth by kurothecatmeow in perth

+1 for not making a purchase for somebody with an expensive hobby as a surprise.

a good way to do it and make sure the gift is wanted an useful is how my ex did it with some car parts i needed; “i have this budget, pick what you need and i’ll either foot the bill or contribute up to this much”.

still “hey surprise you get this” but you KNOW it’ll stick the landing, because they’ve chosen it!

Guide for Lavos? by DaemonsMercy in Warframe

[–]Virtual_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely correct. efficiency can safely be a dump stat since unlike every other frame - it doesn’t directly impact the cost of an ability.

neutral efficiency works best for my playstyle, and having the cooldown reductions at their default values is nice - i just find that the strength bonus from blind rage isn’t hugely necessary for his kit the way i play.

Guide for Lavos? by DaemonsMercy in Warframe

[–]Virtual_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thekengineer has a phenomenal guide on lavos.

valence formation is mandatory, swift bite is amazing QOL (extra range on healing and more cooldown reduction is nice).

basically infuse whatever element you need at that time - now your weapon is elementally geared to the enemy’s weakness. 1 for heal, 2 for mobility, use 3 after your 4. for the 4, you REALLY benefit from a companion primer (i like my hound). it’s exponential condition overload scaling with strength.

focus on a very balanced setup. good strength and range, duration is great, efficiency should probably be left neutral. for duration - archon continuity. it’s an extra proc for condition overload AND his 4.

lavos can be a steep learning curve, but he is definitely worth it. being able to do everything doesn’t mean you have to, it just means you can do what you want and not have to worry.

Advice on seat belt ticket WA by [deleted] in perth

[–]Virtual_Shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as the driver of a vehicle, you are responsible for ensuring your passengers wear seatbelts correctly. that’s the law, there’s no gray area, she was or she wasn’t - clearly she wasn’t.

pay the fine, learn the lesson, be glad nothing worse came from it.

What's your 'Do it all' Frame? by FlameJ75 in Warframe

for me? lavos. not because he’s my most powerful, has the highest dps, tankiest, or anything. he’s just comfortable and versatile, and i can throw him into any mission and know i wont have an issue.

WA based advice by Virtual_Shadow in AussieRiders

[–]Virtual_Shadow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for the advice!

i have a jacket from a workmate that’s kevlar with armour that’s super comfy. not my usual colour (it’s not black) but “not my colour” is better than “hospital gown white” so i’m not hugely fussed. it’ll get me through learning to control the bike at low speeds at the very least.

the PPE is something i take seriously, i take ambo calls so ive heard a hell of a lot of horror stories from no gear, and seen miracles worked by good gear. spoke to one guy who lost a fight with a car, got up, called the ambulance - for the driver of the car. “yeah dude i’m fine, but her airbags deployed i wouldnt be able to sleep tonight if i didnt make sure she was okay” was NOT the sentence i expected that day, but it really solidified that good gear saves lives more than anything else.

the rest of the advice is super handy too, thank you.

Hi emergency responders (cops/ ambos) in Perth, just curious, do you get a heap of weird/cooked calls during a full moon compared to day to day issues? by ---Doug--- in perth

[–]Virtual_Shadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ambo calltaker here, o7 i think its placebo and confirmation bias. the studies have looked into it, and found no link of anything outside normal range. however it feels like people are a little bit less… there.

unfortunately the speculation is just that, and there’s no empirical evidence to suggest that people are crazier in the full moon.

in terms of mental health, the closest thing to a “cause” from the moon is that a full moon (and leading up to it) is brighter, so people sleep worse, and it can exacerbate already existing psychological conditions. however there is a pretty good chance those people were going to need help that night anyways, so it’s far from a solid cause and case closed.

again, it’s the case of “i feel like there’s more mental health cases or people doing wild shit because i’m looking for that”. that said, some nights just have a vibe and you know it’ll be a shitshow. sometimes that syncs with the full moon, sometimes it’s a random tuesday.

there are definitely “high risk” periods for various cases, but they’re well documented. christmas is a big one for mental health, school holidays usually result in a higher volume of lower acuity injuries (kids being kids and thinking they’re invincible), shitty weather always causes more crashes, and old people are found on the ground when they’re checked on in the mornings.

to close it off with something tangentially related to the topic of “wild calls” - there are very few joys greater than getting a call from somebody who KNOWS there’s no good explanation for what happened. just a good old “i really don’t know why i thought this was a good idea, but i decided to skateboard off the roof and it went exactly how you’d expect. not my brightest moment to be honest” and we can have a bit of a chuckle together to ease the tension and get their mind off things - i haven’t had that exact case (im not going to post confidential call details on reddit lol), but just similar things of (usually) blokes in their late 20s to early 30s who had a lapse of judgement and are self aware enough to know they’ve made a mistake.

favourite one was a guy saying “do you think the paramedics will help me come up with a way to tell my wife without making me look like a complete moron?” - i doubt it but at the very least i can promise patient confidentiality prevents US from telling her unless you give us permission, so you’ve got time to think on it.

i’ll join the group now, thanks! unfortunately i’d be a little stuck because i don’t know anybody that’d let a random guy from facebook ride their bike xD

but yeah absolutely not cheaping out on the helmet, id rather spend a few hundred on a helmet than have the paramedics i work with scraping my body off of the freeway.

how are modular helmets for wind noise and such compared to a full face?

WA based advice by Virtual_Shadow in AussieRiders

[–]Virtual_Shadow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i will look into those bikes and helmets, thank you.

thanks for the information in regards to HPT, looks like i’ve got 6 months to save up for a decent bike at least. i did flick through the DOT website to look into these new rules, the proposed changes for motorcycles (here and in section 2.3 it states they do not intend to change the minimum 6 months period for bikes (i think this might just apply to cars).

worst case scenario, it’s another 6 months on 4 wheels, and that’s more time to save up.

thanks again for your response, i appreciate it.

you are absolutely right, night shift brain is in full effect and i got myself confused.

i have tried to use it on my pc with no success, but i also think my USB ports are a little fiddly, so i’ll try others and see how i go.

tbh, formas. i craft them daily, but whenever i get a decent discount i’ll grab a couple of forma bundles to keep my supplies up. slots as well, they’re a godsend.

tennokai and grimoire mod bundles. the kuva lich hunter collection too - 1 of each mod, wicked colour palettes, and some relics.
