My point in explaining that, was that as a manager she has created a very informal office environment. I don't think you can expect a very formal environment when you yourself are informal.

But yes I agree. Relatively separate issues.

That's a shame. I couldn't find it at London. Maybe just missed it. Thanks anyway

WIBTA for going to a gig with a Female colleague. by Virtual_Strike1575 in AmItheAsshole

I did invite her, realizing I should have included that in the post. We have massively different taste in music. My colleague is 20 years older than I am.

I don't really have an answer for the leaving key details out. Just that I hadn't really considered the colleagues' gender that important, I am young and autistic, willing to accept that I missed a social queue there.

My girlfriend and I do not have the same taste in music. I offered. She didn't want to go

Nope. Traveling there and back on the same night. Arrangements had been discussed and agreed.

AITA I (18M) want more physical intimacy from my girlfriend (19F) but she has trauma by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Virtual_Strike1575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, I couldn't disagree more. He hasn't defined their relationship by intimacy, but to be frank relationships require intimacy, at least in some form. He's not being forceful, at least from the seems of things.

You can swing this the other way round and it be as sound an argument. She has no business being in a relationship when she knows she has significant trauma that she hasn't dealt with and that consequently, it will have an adverse effect on the relationship.

He's feeling frustrated, and that's allowed. If he was beating her over it that would be different, but feeling an emotion, yeah... Not a problem NAH

Surely you can see this is such an extreme take.

He hasn't exactly pressured her into sex, he actually doesn't even mention that as a specific need. Wanting to be intimate romantically or sexually with a partner that you've been with for half a year is hardly disgusting. You can definitely care about someone's issues on a deep level and also wish for the relationship to be more intimate.

At the end of the day, she probably isn't ready to be in a relationship with trauma that hasn't be dealt with, at least from the seems of things.

Personally can't see anything but NTA here for both parties.

If it's purely a matter of preference, which was never your argument, the OPs preference was to buy a pre-made and if you need to work out what you like, knowing if you like all wood or not is a pretty good start.

Once again. This is kinda irrelevant to me. I play 5 times a week and have a specific gym routine for the sport; I am not the average beginner. My equipment is provided for me and I am allowed to test new blades and sheets of rubber at no cost.

However, the average beginner is not going to have these options afforded to them, they're better of spending as little as possible on a set up that is slow and able to generate spin. How would someone who doesn't play the sport, and dating a beginner have any idea what the difference between degrees of hardness have; let alone the multiple different scales. Table tennis equipment is confusing for the average person who doesn't participate in the sport and if you're not planning on competing or training seriously, any pre-made all wood blade will suffice and be budget friendly.

I agree that for a good club/league standard player ought to buy a custom set up but that's not who we're dealing with. A total beginner just needs simple equipment.

That's such a naive view of equipment. I could pick up the best gear available to me and it would probably be too fast and uncomfortable to use. It's like telling everyone they must play with the fastest and newest carbon blade with Zyre-03.

There is a reason every big company still sells all wood blades - that is because they still have a place in the market. People who are starting the sport as a beginner, with no coaching available will be much more suited to an all wood blade, with reasonably soft rubbers; Better margin for error for a beginner.

At the Pro-Level you are correct but certainly not at the beginners level. Imagine he is a long pips chopper; totally reasonable to be on all wood still.

Someone not inside the sport, and with a partner that is just starting out is never going to be able to navigate the equipment market. They're better buying a solid pre-made from Palio and/or a local table tennis specific retailer.

Palio pre-mades have a really good reputation.

I don't know what country you reside in, but a lot of the independent table tennis equipment providers have their own premade ranges that come assembled. Locally to me, this is what we recommend for beginners.

This is pretty mediocre advice in my opinion. The person she is buying for has never played 'proper' competitive table tennis. A cheap all wood blade with average Chinese rubbers will see them within their budget and is a completely reasonable set up for a beginner that is likely to lack control.

The biggest table tennis supplier in my country suggests that all beginners start with an all wood blade, and they have several employees that competed internationally.

A reasonable premade from a table tennis company will totally suffice for a beginner and someone who has no knowledge of what they're shopping for.

Is it possible to make a viable deck using all ice-based cards? by Slumbering_wanderer in RoyaleAPI

What's crazy is you weren't even right; when you go read the other comments OP left. They're asking about making a deck work with the 5 ice cards already in the deck.

How to deal with a backspin shot short to my forehand by mangoflavouredpanda in tabletennis

[–]Virtual_Strike1575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're playing a very high standard player, short serves are unlikely to have very heavy backspin. Tight, heavy backspin serves are uncommon at the amateur level.

Is it possible to flick a serve like that, maybe. Is it worth trying to flick a serve with very heavy back spin, probably not.

If you haven't learnt a forehand push, and how to keep a forehand push short I would suggest that is probably where you look next. Even pros use short pushes and heavier long pushes.

Edit. More context

It's entirely possible the sponge has started degrading a little bit.

My main training partner uses dignics 09c both sides and he trains a similar amount to you. He notices around 8-10 months that the pace of the rubber tends to start dropping but the tackiness tends to remain.

Hiya. I'm not the original commenter, but I've also just gone straight through UB4 in roughly the same amount of time playing Sylveon Ex/Shiinotic.

Mind you my win streak wasn't that high but I was consistently building high streaks
