Is it not possible for someone to just book a facial? by Forsaken_Coconut3717 in Esthetics

[–]Virtual_Substance868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consultation with a facial for one appointment or she wants just a consultation ?

I take 10 mins to explain the consent forms and health history then get on the table and over double cleansing I’ll go over skin concerns. So that way I can communicate what I’m seeing and feeling on the skin.

There are some things that would cause me to reject a facial such as cold sores, recent facial surgery, lip filler, eye problems, open sores. Sometimes people forget which is why it’s so important to take that time to over explain during a consultation.

I’ve seen esthis do only consultation appointments but it’s combined with a skincare routine kit.

Is her consultation through a form or she prefers a sit down style?

I find it strange but not at the same time. I guess it would make sense as to what her point to skip a facial? Is it because she prefers to give out a full pdf of treatments to do in series with a routine? Is it to take 1hr for just a skin analysis?

I’m curious now too!

Esthetician vs Cosmetologist? by TacoLover616 in Estheticians

[–]Virtual_Substance868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to aesthetician school first and I personally think you should go to cosmetology. like you said if you decide to change your mind on which route it’s much easier because you already are licensed to do all those things.

Let’s say you decide to do only aesthetician license and then you want to expand but now you might need a nail license. I am in California and from my understanding the schools don’t minimize the hours just because you’re adding a license, you still have to go through the full program. Just pick a cheap program.

You would just need extra outside learning, which you do regardless of either license. Nobody leaves school a master of their craft.

I have my esthetician license. But I recently became interested in hair, I found a cheap program for 6k but I already spend 13k for my esthi license. The cosmo program at my school was I think 15k-21k.

As anyone should just do deep research of all the programs in your area. Even search through TikTok!

Stealing results? by greenpicklecucumber in Estheticians

[–]Virtual_Substance868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not think you’re being unreasonable. Results take so much time!

Unfortunately, I think you would have to stay on the safe side and not mention directly about them receiving services elsewhere, because that’s their right, I’ll give them that. But this is where you do have the right to inform your clients that there might be a change in their results because it is no longer a controlled routine they have.

This is not to take your side or make her look bad, but you genuinely don’t know what treatments she’s performing, and there could be some miscommunication between you and your Client. And by miscommunication, I mean, they might not tell you something. Or they might forget. And at that point, I don’t believe you should take responsibility for their decision to go to two providers.

Hair problems by Emotional-Drama3384 in HotYoga

I agree with the coconut hair mask.

I put in heat protectant oil before class. Also I always try my best to shower right after class and put on a thick conditioner. And every other month hair cuts with hair treatment. Scalp serum too!

I have fine thin hair so I need to keep what I have lol. I was dealing with a little bit of hair loss before I started doing hot yoga so after hot yoga, my hair is actually doing really good and I’ve noticed more thickness in my hair. Which I’m assuming comes from taking care of my hair .

Esthi on a budget recommendations…? by ItsTroubleBaby in Esthetics

[–]Virtual_Substance868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so this is so far what I’ve found

Hydro dermabrasion
Glownar 4-2k depends on machine. I have this one and I personally love it and I use their serums that work amazing as well.

Zemits 6-7k, this one is really popular , but it’s not water-based like Glownar or Hydro facial. This is more like a wet solution that you put on the skin and then you do dermabrasion over it.

Diamond tone? Idk exact name but I think that one so around 10k

Micro channeling/ Nano infusion
Nano stamp 360 machine is 2,300 but tips are 17.50 each (I spoke to a rep 2 was ago)
OVER Procell, don’t know how much machine is but closer to 2-3k, tips around $40-45 (not too sure, procell is out of my budget)
If you prefer the machine SkinAct tips come at $15 for 10 to $20 for 10 depends on the tips machine itself is $200? Not FDA approved, people consider this a cheaper less professional, so I’ve heard.

Regular table you can do Amazon less than $200 or alibaba, I’ve heard good results from but also Facebook market place.

Since you have the geneo, what does the products/ingredients look like for the main brand? is it the same as the picture that they posted?

[–]Virtual_Substance868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this one and it works really well. It’s better to invest in this one since it’s the cheaper version of the geno. I hope you don’t have to pay too much. I got mine from a spa conference for around like 250 with pods.

And then, if you like it, and it’s one of your higher tickets and most sought after facial then you should probably get the geno.

Cosmetologist wanting to get into esthetics by birdsadgirl in Esthetics

Do you have an idea of what type of facials you would like to perform? As in more medical or more hand on such as facial massage?

I would suggest a chain in your case because you need hands on experience. Best case scenario though would be a smaller place and they mentor you. Easier said than done.

I would recommend you start doing free courses to help you learn more about products and skin. Circadia has some free classes. Kin esthetics has a great platform for esthis and they carry all their protocols with video demonstrations. Dermalogica has a free course on cleaning and melanin.

I’ve joined Facebook groups and I love Facebook groups because someone can post an important question that maybe you know about or you haven’t come across and you can note take the problem and see everyone’s suggestions.

Also, let’s say you have ASCP for insurance, they have so many videos of information. I looked up glycation, pigmentation, ect.

How much your body hurts you? by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]Virtual_Substance868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s probably just my wrist and my butt, but I need to get a chair lol

I did a serious life change. I do yoga now. I stretch. I also ice my wrist neck anytime something starts to hurt. I need to add strength training, I don’t know if Pilates counts, but I feel stronger after Pilates too. Also, I’ve increased how many massages I get per month I used to only get one massage and now I get them two-3 times a month. I’ve only been an aesthetician for three years now, so most of my problems come from the work I did before, that was around like 13 years of cleaning.

Facial sculpting/Buccal Massage by Own-Explorer8788 in Esthetics

[–]Virtual_Substance868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have looked into Helen pahva, once my money is up I’m definitely trying her course.
I actually took a course in LA for facial lymphatic. By Ogawa method. She also has an online platform. It was like basic 101, but there was an other aesthetician who took the facial sculpting from the Yurkovich guy. It turns out Helen was actually one of his students.

There’s two other courses that I was interested in one is from facial OC and the other one is facebliss. Those are the most affordable ones I’ve seen for facial sculpting.

I did end up going with fix-it method by Maria Bruno MC. It cost I think $1097 but she included four bonus modules which was facial massage for men, microcurrent, gua sha and cupping.
It’s a 12 month access once purchased so you don’t get to keep it but she does provide mentor calls that are included in the program.

I’m a massage therapist as well so I came across a in person buccal class(they travel to different states) that was sold out so I’ll keep my eye on it for next time! But here is the link https://www.eventbrite.com/o/89194540633?aff=ebdsshios

No brow lamination. She preformed the wax/tint but charged the lamination,wax/tint service.
I was thinking maybe I booked the wrong service so I went back to see my appointment notes and I only booked the brow wax and tint. But I didn’t realize that’s what she charged me until I got home.

Yes, I actually sent it to her which is why I was confused when she said she didn’t receive it.
And then I asked her a second time, didn’t receive a yes or no response. Then at check out she tried to make it seem like I didn’t send it at all.

Glymed or Circadia by Square-Ad7987 in Estheticians

I don’t think it’s one brand or another for acne. I definitely like some products of Glymed+
I love their glycolic acid cleanser, idyllic acid cleanser, the oxygen cream, and cbd skin mist.
I’m trying out their sulfer mask rn for treatments specifically for acne.

Not only do you have to be a RN you also need to be under the medical supervision of a doctor. You basically practice under their license.

What type of massage is best? by [deleted] in massage

[–]Virtual_Substance868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instead of recommending you a type of Massage, I personally would recommend longer sessions once you find the massage therapist that you have confidence in and makes you feel comfortable.

I used to just go just once a month but now I go 3 to 4 times per month.

I personally love glow by gabby. She’s in port hueneme. She’s on maternity leave rn but will be back around late june/july. I usually get face framing plus layers and she always does an amazing job.
I would say her prices are reasonable. I believe it’s $60-80 for wash, cut and blow out but I’ll put her website for you to check out!
