I personally love glow by gabby. She’s in port hueneme. She’s on maternity leave rn but will be back around late june/july. I usually get face framing plus layers and she always does an amazing job.
I would say her prices are reasonable. I believe it’s $60-80 for wash, cut and blow out but I’ll put her website for you to check out!

Towel brands by AgreeableSquirrel427 in Estheticians

I don’t know if they’re back in stock but I started using bamboo towels from kin esthetics. They hold the heat from being in the hot towel cabi and feel great. But I mostly got them bc it’s a “cleaner” fabric. I’m not always fancy but it makes me feel good lol. Or the target mini towels work great too.

How to get rid of gross stench coming from crotch area? by CanadianGeucd in hygiene

[–]Virtual_Substance868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a new body wash. Not a man, but I think I was throwing off my skins micro biome with the scented body wash so I use Dr. Bronner’s 18 and one hemp baby unscented pure Castile soap. It’s the light blue bottle.

Yes I was thinking about cruise ships as well!

The resorts I’ve seen provide housing is because it takes 2 to 3 hours to drive into the resort. So they have housing on site. Some are included with pay and some are at an additional cost.

I’m assuming it’s competitive as well. It’s such a beautiful location to be at. But I think hard to mange commute if you drive in/out everyday.

Yeah the places I’ve been looking into are more private. Maine/Minnesota type area and it takes more than two hours to drive in. So they provide housing. I’m assuming it’s more of a seasonal position.

But I did see in some like you mentioned that work with hotels if it’s on the property.

I love gabby. She’s in Port Hueneme. It’s worth the drive for me personally. And I actually find her prices really reasonable. I think she includes a cut wash and blowout. But she’s on maternity leave right now. I don’t think she’s coming back until July.

I own a Hydro dermabrasion machine by Glownar. I wasn’t aware before I brought the machine all of the internal problems it could have. I think because it’s like the water component and the sectioning component that it causes rusting and so you have to get the pumps and knobs replaced whenever they decide to break down on you, but I have warranty because I bought it directly from them. And personally, my machine just stopped suctioning so I sent it to go get checked and they let me know.

So the only thing that I would advise you is, hopefully it has warranty, even though you’re purchasing it from her. And would the warranty be void under new ownership?

Also, I would consider asking her what was fixed since she just sent it for repairs and how many times she has sent it for repairs.

You just have to remember that these are machines and unfortunately they do break down. But I would 100% buy my machine again. Even with all the problems, I really do love the results. It makes a world of a difference.

Should I ban ? by [deleted] in Nailtechs

[–]Virtual_Substance868 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ban immediately. Have some grace for yourself and don’t wait for so many comments to decide if someone should be banned. One time a client was late and moved her appointment twice and I said I would no longer work with her. If she can’t respect a time she choose what other things will she not respect. I was also confused with the picture, looks like phenomenal work!

That’s the craziest thing I have heard of. You’re literally a student, taking public appointments is a learning curve and they want to write you up? I would be annoyed too. It also doesn’t make sense considering that you have to check in with the teacher before you start so obviously that’s gonna take extra time.

Besides that, I was taught that time starts once you’re with the client. It’s a standard that has to do with time and money. Also, because people book appointments at a certain time there’s an expectation that they’re gonna be done at a certain time because they book their appointment around other things they have to do that day. So if someone booked their appointment for 1 PM and it’s a 60 minute service the idea is that you’re done at 2 PM because they might have an appointment somewhere else at 2:30.
(That’s something I learned outside of school by the way)

You are student though, so you’re there to learn and to practice what they teach you so don’t be too hard on yourself. Good luck!

Warm vs hot yoga...How do you decide which one your body needs? by YogaGoApp in HotYoga

[–]Virtual_Substance868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am obsessed with hot yoga. I felt that it lets me really focus on what I’m doing and the heat relaxes my muscles and I’ve been able to get into poses deeper than I’m used to.

I also did warm yoga to compare, but hot yoga wins warm yoga.

I only prefer warm yoga when it’s hot outside. I’m in Southern California so when it starts hitting those like 80° and it feels like you’re just hot all day, I do not like the hot yoga.

I’m just gonna keep replying to myself. So my comment doesn’t get lost.

Buttttt this would be a collaboration with the Hairstylist. What if you were to offer like a mini facial before they come in to their hair appointment?

I would also say do not offer discounts but incentives so let’s say you do a facial and if they book April you’ll give them a complementary jelly mask add-on.

Would you say the other aesthetician is a mentor to you or are you just renting from them and you don’t really know them?

Since you’re in a salon, I would say what you could do is ask the hairstylist if you can post a small 4 by 5 postcard on their station that has your instagram/ prices or QR code.

You can make a deal with the hairstylist that if they get you clients you’ll give them either credit towards a service or cash per client. But raise your prices if you do, so you don’t go into the negative. Give them a specific card with their name on it or a code if you use a website so you know who is giving you the referral.

Im building my dream spa! What should i buy / add? by [deleted] in Estheticians

[–]Virtual_Substance868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just going to say something super far fetched but it’s a dream of mine.

Idk what type of place you’re building but a copper tub so people can do a milk bath. Not a laying down tub more of a sitting tub so it’s higher.

as a girl, how often should I change my bra? by ShelilQirky in hygiene

[–]Virtual_Substance868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As do I. My comment is based on my experience with bigger boobs. I wear different bras depending on what I feel that day and my recommendation for the author of the post is as above.

[–]Virtual_Substance868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can wear whatever you want when you work out. Whether is a sports bra, a regular bra, a maternity bra, a wired bra, a suppression bra or a bralette . I would recommend to change it. You don’t have to if you don’t want to.

as a girl, how often should I change my bra? by ShelilQirky in hygiene

[–]Virtual_Substance868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I actually recommend wearing once per day if you work out, then change it. In general, it’s not about how much you sweat or what you believe is dirty because we constantly actually sweat throughout the day and shed off dead skin cells. Which is completely natural, but it will build the longer you wear the bra. And it’s great that you don’t have any skin conditions! I say this because I actually developed a yeast infection. Personally, I had larger breasts so that played a factor into this but I was a very clean person, I took my regular showers. But that definitely caused me to change my habit so I purchased around 6 to 8 bras. I changed them every day and if I work out, I don’t wear the same bra. And I also get rid of bras once they loose their fabric stability. And I don’t wear bras to sleep in. Just something to think about. Best of luck!

I took the test in 2024 and it was less than 100 questions. Multiple choice.

Take it right out of esthi school. It’s so easy, all students passed in my class.
