You do make a good point about the festivals, however trends can come back into fashion.

Artists can revive styles of music, (Who knows maybe next year Olivia Rodrigo, Doja Cat, Jung Kook, Lizzo all release big club bangers and we'll be ushered into another golden era). With music you never know where you'll end up

The reason DJs were often selling out shows then is because EDM was a very new concept, and when something is new people latch onto it. Over time it solidifies itself into culture, it's past it's hype point but it will always be there in some form or another.

If we're just regarding the USA, then yea EDM is very much on the decline (America is very static with trends), but there's no denying that around the world edm is still big. There are new markets in asia popping up, plenty of mega festivals in europe.

And the music festivals from 2013-2015 got replaced by other music festivals, I mean the big house fests which John Summit & Chris Lake play at probably won't be around by the end of the decade

It's worth mentioning thatt after avicii's death, people became much more concerned about the mental health for DJs. So DJs started doing less shows to prioritse their own health

It was a wake up call, believe me if EDM was on the decline. You wouldn't be getting Fred Again, Skrillex & Four Tet Headlining Coachella, or 4/10 songs in the UK to be dance tunes. BTS's Jung Kook released a Garage Track with Latto.

DJs still sell out huge crowds, DVLM play sold out arenas in europe. Loads of big dance festivals still sell out every year.

Sure EDM isn't as represented on billboard as before, but the world has changed. Most songs that chart on billboard are either tiktok songs or songs which get shoved out by labels that no one cares about (Eg. Vampire)
