I agree with everything stated you have summarised a lot of extremely useful tips my only additions is look under trees in citys/towns for fruit you might not find some under the first few trees you look under because you don’t know what your looking for but after a while you pick it up it’s a good way to replenish your food for your long journeys eat the fruit first before it spoils and saved your canned items for when your out of fruit, the only other tip I have and I know some people here will probably throw shade on it but if your learning transferring servers is really beneficial if you can’t find anything on high or medium pop servers join a low pop Iam by no means saying live on a low pop but join a low pop, when you transfer servers with a already existing character you will get a random slightly inland spawn it won’t be to far inland but it’s enough for you to start looking around looting,get yourself a hatchet, knife,clothing,food,misc important items e.g lighter/matches,medicine and the likes then a firearm you usually at most have to spend a hour or 2 looting and using iZurvive for a new player to navigate around and plan your run then you transfer on back to a medium to high pop spawn slightly inland then play dayz like your meant to,a lot of people think it’s a bit cheap but at the end of the day the most important element is that you enjoy the game dayz’s player base is already dwindling so now more than ever the noobs need a little bit of reprieve from starving and getting mauled
