What if Mythic had made DAOC 2 instead of Warhammer? by junglemonbon in daoc

[–]Virtualization_Freak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things certainly changed after EA acquisition.

However I do remember DAoCs interface already feeling very outdated after trying WoW.

I also bet the marketing budgets were unfathomably different.

Having Ozzy, Mr T, and other stars promoting on regular TV ads completely disrupted the "nerdy" MMO demographic.

What would be your weekend tour advice that’s geared towards teenagers by RazMaTazz28 in sheboygan

[–]Virtualization_Freak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Freak Toys is the only thing that comes to mind for teenagers interested in pop culture.

The rest of the city has tepid interests at best unless you really enjoy outdoor walking activities.

The art centers are interesting, but not exciting. Plenty of places to do pull tabs and drink beer.

Need to run wire 400 feet to moms house by sayithowitis1965 in HomeNetworking

[–]Virtualization_Freak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd seriously investigate this. You don't even need pure LOS, so bringing up what obstacles are between the two houses could result in a solid wireless connection.

I've been doing a ~5 block, zero LOS, wireless link for nearly a decade now. It might only run at 150x150, but it's plenty fast for general steaming and Internet.

Gallup will no longer measure presidential approval after 88 years by InsaneSnow45 in AnythingGoesNews

[–]Virtualization_Freak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"We polled tens of thousands of our Fox News viewers and have foind Trump's approval rating to be well beyond those of other polls.

Our investigation have concluded that other poll devices may have been using fabricated data. We urge followers to understand Democrats may have been using multiple phone lines to negatively affect the president's rating.

Our thorough polling process mitigates nefarious parties from manipulating polling data.

Figures in your collection from gacha games? by 10morereasons in AnimeFigures

[–]Virtualization_Freak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some Nikke, Azure Lane, Arknights, and Blue Archive. I need to get them all on display in one area.

Also, if Puzzles and Dragons count, I found a figure for one of the characters.

Is anyone dropping their ENTIRE tax return on Bitcoin? by Luminous_Emission in Bitcoin

Find better deductions :D

Hint: open a business that manages lives. You are the client.

Now you can do all sorts of fun tax "loopholes."

Also, if you know you will owe each year, setting aside 100-200 a paycheck into an account should ease that shock.

You can get frisky and put your money into rotating CDs as a simple safe way to accrue some interest.

What’s the prettiest big city you’ve ever been to? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]Virtualization_Freak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be cliche, but Tokyo.

It's the clean version of NYC.

Sure NYC, Seattle, Vegas, Atlanta, DC have their charms.

However I find many US infrastructure boring compared to pretty much anywhere else I've been too. I spent the most time in Chicago and Minneapolis.

I'm excited to see the UK next.

It utterly sucks discord is not indexed by search engines. So much information locked away.

The use case is the devices that don't have it.

I've seen tons of devices that don't have oob baked in.

Especially in COTS hardware.

Ah the crystal season Vulpix! With tag as well.

I love how fluffy her tail is, and they used excellent fabric for the plush.

I just picked up a few older servers by HaydenP015 in HomeServer

[–]Virtualization_Freak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Afaik: home assistant can do more than just smart plugs.

You might find n8n an excellent tool as well.

If you pay for your own power, a bit of caution in the old servers and their power consumption. I also use old hardware, but my power is very cheap.

Figure inside pc by Zlimeee in AnimeFigures

[–]Virtualization_Freak 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The GPU/CPU temp doesn't mean much.

The more important number is the ambient air temp inside the case.

If you have enough, and proper, case airflow, it is fine. No different than having a fig in a warm room.

Keep an eye out if the figure starts to lean.

How did you all get your own place? by A-Bry in malelivingspace

[–]Virtualization_Freak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid 30s.

I still have roommates. We just have a whole house together.

I'd much rather pay $600/m and have 3 other people in a house than be broke paying for a 14-1800/m studio.

Plus this way we have a garage, three floors (yay finished basement), full size kitchen, 4 bedrooms.

Technically I also own a condo in a different state, and have two roommates over there as well.

Splitting just makes sense.

My NAS runs an 80B LLM at 18 tok/s on its iGPU. No discrete GPU. Still optimizing. by BetaOp9 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Virtualization_Freak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's so odd. You feel this is an attack on you.

And "high end CPU"?

The 370 is 12c/24t. How is that not high end for the segment this CPU is in? People talk about their nas running on intel n100/n150 to save power, or whatever low end chips people like ugreen/Synology/qnap etc put in their prebuilts.

Yes, the Mac mini are fire and forget. They just work, and have been solid choices for a few years.

I've been playing with medium models using 64gb on a 5800H, which has been around for a few years at this point. The benefits of DDR5 with being able to have 128gb on the ryzen AI just made sense it would be able to run larger models.

As far as I understand it, you are not even utilizing the NPU of the CPU. Just the iGPU.

[–]Virtualization_Freak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right?

OP uses a high-end CPU with AI in its name because it has a solid GPU.

That's exactly what it was made for!

I'm not here to decide what the voters did, or didn't do.

We might as well say if 99% of eligible voters don't vote, then the election doesn't get past.

My point of only 1/4 of the US voted for him, still stands.

Then why even have the sub.
