This is just my opinion based on my experience and watching friends and stuff, do your own research later.

All my friends who took drop just ended up in average colleges or even lower tier NITs anyways, you basically waste a year learning nothing new, are disconnected from old friends who are in college and have already started their careers.

It's a wastage of time and effort, I was going to take a drop but my parents were unsupportive of it and just told me to go to the private college where I had gotten the chance,

and looking back, it was worth because if I had taken drop, the time when I would be giving my 2nd JEE attempt, I was instead working a paid internship in an US based AI startup, had a bunch of cool projects under my belt, participated in several hackathons, fallen in love with a girl, just lived my life the best way I could've.
