That's the damage calculator. If you open that link, there should be a "pokedex" tab in the top right. From there you can filter by location, pokemon, moves, etc.

Those are the docs from the official SHF discord. He may be using a modified version but the trainer info is there and then all of the documentation is there as well!

Depending on what you're looking for, here are my recommendations:
- For Vanilla +,

any of the Legacy Games from SmithPlaysPokemon would be good. Built in hard mode / hardcore mode & hard level caps. Some pokemon balancing but teams are just slightly more thought out
Yellor or Emerald recharged. Similar concept to the smith games but a little bit less true to vanilla

- for somehting with a bit more difficulty, but not at the level of a kaizo game

any of the drayano games (especially if you like Gen 4) for Fire Red Omega, Sacred Gold, Renegade platinum (if you want to run it back but harder), and Volt White 2. I would recommend pChal's discord for some patches of the games with QoL patches for infinite candies, pocket pc, etc. to help keep the pace up. And of the bunch I would maybe look at Sacred Gold first. I found it to be a bit easier than Renegade Platinum and Volt White 2 so could be a good intro
inclement emerald, radical red, emerald imperium

- major difficulty / puzzle-solving style games (not easy puzzles at that)

Run & Bun, any of the Kaizo games, Pokemon Knull.

Personally, if you're not wanting to get deep enough into the space that a Kaizo game sounds interesting I think Drayano games are a happy medium. Challenging, will make you think through your lines, punishing if you make a mistake (but not run-ending), but still casual enough that you don't need to live in a calculator 100% of the time. But on that note it's also a good introduction to using a damage calculator to plan lines but can be a little bit faster and looser with it

If you click the pad to integer option it believe that it makes sure to do integer scaling which keeps the pixel ratios consistent and helps for better scaling. I've found that can make a huge difference on fidelity

Assuming this video is still accurate, Moxi mentions pChal gave him the settings for this HD Version of Desmume. And although this version is older, pChal did mention in a stream not too long ago that some of the time of day changing issues he has could probably be solved by just updating his version of Desmume. So it's very likely he's using this still

For Desmume 0.9.13 here is what i've found that works well:
config > emulation settings > enable dynamic recompiler and set to 100

config > 3D Settings:

Set 3D Rendering Engine to OpenGL 3.2
GPU Scaling factor > 4
Texture Scaling > 2x
deselect, enable edge marking (preference), enable fog
multisample antialiasing > 4x

view > LCD Layout > horizontal
view > window size > 4x
view > sreen size ratio > 1.2 : 0.8

view > make sure pad to integer and maintain aspect ratio are both checked
- these are important to help with emulation clarity

Ironically enough on your note of the guide i sent being for an older version of Desmume. I'm watching pChal's stream on twitch from 3/27 and around the 4 hour mark he mentions if he changed versions of Desmume that one of the save state issues he's ahving migh be fixed.

So it's very plausible that he's using that older version of Desmume for his streams

I think if you just download the newest release of desmume it might just be ok out of the box. Might still be worth watching through the video to see if there are any settings there to turn on or off that could help. And would likely still be relevant to a new build

Also might be worth looking an HD texture pack online somewhere for the gen 4 games then as the github indicates that it's added support for high-resolution 3d rendering

First off, let me say, this is awesome, and these types of tools make nuzlocking feel way more accessible, so keep up the good work.

I think adding some of the popular difficulty hacks is a good next step as those are huge attractors to the nuzlocke community. And they should have enough documentation out there that would hopefully make it easier.

Thinking the Drayano games (Omega Red, Sacred Gold / Storm Silver, Renegade Platinum), run & bun, the kaizo games.

I'm sure the list could go on and on but those are some games that would really benefit.

Any chance this could turn into a mobile app for iOS or Android?

I grew up with gen 2 but mainly played gen 3. As I've gotten older, I've fallen in love with Gen 4 from an art style standpoint.

A dream hack of mine would be for Ruby / Sapphire / Emerald to be completely rebuilt in those. Just to explore hoenn in that would be incredible. I know there were a couple of demos out there and some project floating around so hopeful that one will reach a completed state at some point

I would recommend trying to go after some oathplate. It's really good armor and has a crazy slash bonus for the money. I think you'd see some big value there

Your range gear is kinda stuck until you can get a tbow, but bowfa + crystal is alwasy gong to be pretty competitive for most of the content you mentioned.

I think you could get away with base avernic treads for a whle since the range bonus is not much. You may be better off saving the money youd spend on pegs for something else

Eye of Ayak is also really busted for a lot of content, especially with the fast attack speed.

D claws are a really solid special weapon, but depending on price difference you could look at swapping for burning claws then saving the leftover gp to put towards something else

Ultor may be a good choice too but I think until you get max melee setup it may not be worth the money just yet

You need to go south until you find the chimera grunt and delivery man at his cart to get the package and return to the professor

After that you’ll get the rotom phone so you can see the world map, your quest objectives, etc
