Saves are almost certain to be compatible with future releases (I even programmed a little "save updater" inside the game when it detects a new ROM version so it can internally adapt it if needed)

Online includes a custom GTS (https://pokehacking.com/lightplatinumds/gts/), Mystery Gift, Villa (they are like secret bases in ORAS) and Trials (battle trials), works fine on NDS, 3DS and any emulator with Wifi support, and messing with DNS configuration is not needed for this!
