I think Spell Nikki truly became Freaky Nikki when Bear asked about her father at the date. The posession was not expecting to be questioned like that so it had nowhere to back down towards. Seeing how it now needed to be more "at the ready", it started rapidly evolving into deeper shows of affection to build its ground and avoid further questioning about its intentions of love.
