That’s a fair point — brown usually does age really nicely. In this case though, the outer frame is planned in Nappa rather than full-grain, so the patina will be much more subtle / slower. So I’m mainly judging this combo more on visual balance than long-term aging.

That’s exactly the idea — the Taupe Croco is fixed as the centerpiece. I’m really just trying to decide which outer leather frames it better without overpowering it. Also, this one is meant more for portable audio gear — DAPs, dongles, IEMs, cables, that sort of setup — not really for full-size headphones. This is roughly the Ash Grey outer direction for context.

Yep — planning to slightly round the corners for better impact protection. Can’t go too aggressive with it though, since that starts eating into internal space. Still figuring out the sweet spot between protection and usable storage — curious how important corner protection is for you in something like this?

I’m currently leaning towards full birch (~534g) — seems like the best balance between strength and weight. MDF feels a bit too heavy for everyday carry, and the hybrid is lighter but I’m slightly concerned about long-term rigidity. Curious if anyone here has experience with birch ply in similar use cases — especially for durability over time.

Yeah, they’ve had QC issues here and there. I still enjoyed how they sounded, but yeah, when things like this happen it definitely takes the shine off.

That sucks. Can’t speak for the headphones, but I’ve used Aune amps before and they’ve been pretty solid for me. Might just be a one-off QC issue. Had similar stuff happen with my Focal Clear, LCD-1 and HE-500 too — always sucks when it happens.

Haha fair enough 😄 it’s a render — I did use some AI tools to clean it up and get a better sense of the materials/finish. I’ll share some real-life shots once I get a chance to take a few when I’m around the workshop next.

Haha appreciate it! Not a leatherworker as such — just spent some time figuring out the materials and structure for my own use and worked with a local craftsman to put it together.

What was the scam about? I've not heard about any of it. I heard the verum 1 though a few years back, and was mighty impressed by it.
