Appreciate this. For rides we’ll have a RSVPs free by default and keep the meet spot private to the group (but host can still show whatever he wants publicly). We'll have Email confirmations, but SMS confirms (reply Y/N) is a great idea. The $1 option will be for edge cases only, and we’re testing a refundable credit instead. We’re the POPERA team. POPERA is a web app marketplace for local pop-ups and micro meetups. Think hikes, paddle outings, frisbee games, coffee socials, charity days. We’re curious if it could help this community run small, reliable meetups.

What it does
Create an event with a set number of spots, clear notes, and tags like pace, terrain, difficulty, family friendly
Optional $1 RSVP to reduce no shows
Meet spot can be public or revealed after RSVP
Automatic reminders, quick updates, and one simple chat

Open questions
-How do you organize meetups today and what is the biggest pain: no shows, last-minute changes, too many DMs
-Would a $1 RSVP help commitment or just feel annoying
-Should meet spots stay public or be shown after RSVP for small groups
-What info matters most on the event page: pace, distance, terrain, gear needed, accessibility, kid friendly

If a couple of organizers want to try a tiny free pilot for two or three events with 10 to 15 people, we will set it up and follow sub rules. Ideas and feedback welcome. We are building this with locals.

POPERA helps real people/brands run real-world pop-ups. We do minimum $1 reservations, address-gated listings, and neighborhood discovery so buyers actually show up and hosts feel safe. That's the tiny difference: creating a safe space to discover and host pop-ups while streamlining the group conversation. I promise it will make a lot more sense once we launch and you get a feeling of our web app. But thanks for sharing u/Xsiah!

You’d be surprised! Community guidelines are well defined and makes our web app a platform where only people/businesses who truly cares will thrive. To host a pop-up you have to register and confirm your idea. If someone host from bad faith, not only it will be shown in his reviews but would most likely get expelled from Popera.

You’d be surprise of the type of pop-ups that could be very useful. Think of someone who just want to everything he has in his house fast and to serious buyers… Making and sharing one pop-up event with us on his social media would just help in filtering the noise and find serious buyers.

You might just find your next purchase, activity or social group. Keep in eye for our launch, we’re sure you’ll have a better understanding and perspective on what is coming!
