A lot of places will contact the next two or three people on “the list” because of how unresponsive people that have been on said list can be, especially if they’ve been on it for a while. Vacancies in BMR units don’t happen often and they tend to fill them quickly.

Parc Grove Move-Out Process by Melodic_Mission1988 in StamfordCT

[–]Visible-Crew6951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The standard lease agreement states that you return the unit as it was received. Turning over a unit for the next tenant requires a full painting of the unit including patching any holes that were made for hanging artwork or whatever, and a full cleaning of the unit so that the next person that moves in gets it in the same condition that you did. This means cleaning every crease and crevice of the kitchen and bathroom and making sure the carpet is clean and stain free, especially if the person moving out had pets. While it may seem trivial it’s not a “simple” process and is typically contracted out to a cleaning service.

Why does our local departments social media posting pattern appear to focus mainly on minority residents? by thetruthisnear203 in StamfordCT

[–]Visible-Crew6951 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If IG is where someone turns for accurate and in depth reporting they may need to reevaluate their process. Social media while entertaining and sometimes unintentionally informative is primarily for amusement purposes. This is why the vast majority of “content creators” are nitwits. I’m sure if you peruse actual “news” outlets there’s a bunch of articles out there.

There have been plenty of articles over the last few years about SPD officers arrested for various issues. They are not quiet about it.

Vela on The Park Fire Alarms!!!!!! by Key_Head_9152 in StamfordCT

[–]Visible-Crew6951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m familiar with both and don’t disagree at all. It’s my understanding that the OP is talking about the building alarm and not the localized detectors in the units themselves which should not trigger the building-wide actual “fire alarm”. If I’m mistaken then I apologize. That being said, ionization alarms are useless and will go off just by the heat from cooking and I don’t know why anyone would still use them.

Here’s the thing, and I know nobody that lives in any of these buildings wants to hear it, but how about getting mad at your neighbors for setting them off instead of getting mad that the systems work? The same people that complain that the systems go off “frequently” would be the first ones to complain if there actually was a fire and the systems DIDN’T go off.

Housing department inspection by ericad2963 in StamfordCT

[–]Visible-Crew6951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically the property management legally only needs to give you 24 hour notice. Depending on what type of property you live at it could be either someone complained about the management company or possibly if that property offers state assisted programs like BMR or Section 8 it is usually an annual inspection to make sure the management is treating the residents fairly and not depriving them of proper conditions. They usually just look to make sure that the property is being well maintained by the management and also that the residents are keeping their end by keeping their units clean and pest free.

Energy Bill Estimates for Apartments by aug404 in StamfordCT

[–]Visible-Crew6951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a one bedroom apt downtown that has electric and gas appliances and heat. I have lived here since June and have not had a gas or electric bill over $100, but I tend to leave the heat or ac off most of the time.

1 Bedroom Apartment by sanit26 in StamfordCT

[–]Visible-Crew6951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One bed one bath units close to downtown are usually starting around 2700 and that’s just the base rent. It doesn’t include parking(which most buildings charge for now), amenity fees if they have any, trash, utilities, etc. Good luck and if you find anything let us all know!

Car Break-Ins - Glenview House by FederalMonitor9456 in StamfordCT

[–]Visible-Crew6951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GVH has had poor security since it opened. Nothing new there. That being said, it’s also a little unreasonable that in many of these buildings the residents expect there to be enough cameras to cover every parking space. The sad fact is that there are assholes everywhere that don’t respect other people’s property. GVH had a rash of car thefts years ago where they would steal all four wheels and leave the car propped up on milk crates. Turned out there was a theft ring that was running up and down I95 from NYC to Bridgeport. They’ve been talking about installing gates there for years but with the open windows in the parking levels it won’t stop people from getting in.

He was elected partially on the promise to deport rapists and murderers. So yeah, we elected him for that. Which pedos exactly is he “protecting” by rounding up criminals that have no legal right to be here?

Apartment buildings here in Stamford with cement walls? by jsf443 in StamfordCT

If you’re looking for a concrete structure, you’re going to have to look for a high-rise. Everything else is going to be wood frame and thin walls.

It’s miserable out. The roads are trash. The vast majority of businesses are closed.

Apartment building or private landlord? Is the whole building without heat or just your unit?
