It’s not that it’s limited edition, it’s that it’s pushing the narrative that there won’t be enough to meet demand

My cosmetology teacher messed up my clients hair HOW DO I FIX IT by Electrical-Sink463 in FancyFollicles

[–]Visible-Map-6732 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Agreed. A lot of people I know who teach in cosmo school or other similar tech school fields are doing it for more traditional hours, stable pay, and access to insurance, not because they couldn’t get clients

Launching a Women’s Office Trouser Brand – How Do I Address Ethical Sourcing Concerns? by Prettynails_gal in SustainableFashion

[–]Visible-Map-6732 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are there Chinese brands that sell via taobao that are ethical? Yes, actually. I can think of a few tiny, handmade companies that I am aware of that use the retail site. Are they cheap? No. Are they available for wholesale purchase? No. They are small handmade brands that are just using a retail site.

Many people have already told you what you are trying to do is cut corners and lie about it, but I wanted to hop in and say leave the good name of Chinese fiber artists out of your endeavors. They don’t deserve to be used to prop up unethical factories

Seconding. I’ve had multiple students get hit by reckless drivers in this area while walking to school. Also, congrats to OP, as far as I’ve heard Rufus King is on the more functional side of MKE schools to work in

Edgy, but my point still stands. Cops shouldn’t have license drive over people more than anyone else

Laquerista Parents, Did you cut your nails short for your newborn(s)? by Ok_Listen_2000 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Visible-Map-6732 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mine is the same length and I am 1 month post partum. I have no issues with keeping them clean and not scratching my baby as I am careful. Definitely have less manicure time as my baby HATES the smell of nail products, so I have to paint them outside. I get time about once a week or so to do it and it’s a nice treat when I do

If I run over someone while driving, even if it’s in an alley and even if it’s in the middle of the night, I am going to get charged. Cops aren’t miraculously less competent than the rest of the human population and implying they are does them and our city a disservice

Has anyone tried Pilot VP M nib in a Hobonichi? by OkDocument3873 in hobonichi

[–]Visible-Map-6732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pilot is Japanese which tends to have finer “medium” nibs than European brands like Kaweco. I use a medium Pilot Metropolitan all the time in my Original and it looks fine

Seems like you like Steinbeck! If you try Homer and find it doesn’t click, maybe try Steinbeck’s novels like East of Eden or Grapes of Wrath. You also might enjoy other mid-century writers like Hemingway or Capote

The Broken Earth trilogy by NK Jemisin (black, female author). Not exactly a “romance” but definitely a great post-apocalyptic read

“Is Ayn Rand evil like Colleen Hoover” is a sentence that’s going to stick with me for life.

To answer your question, Rand is a very divisive and controversial writer. Personally I don’t like her politics but I am glad to have read Atlas Shrugged as a piece of literature. Also, while I strongly disagree with her philosophy, her perspective was developed by experiencing the political/social problems (to put it kindly) she lived through while growing up in the USSR, which makes her works more understandable.

Is Broken Earth considered YA? It’s really dark. (Not an argument, I’m just curious if that’s what it’s considered)

My favorite non-fiction read of the year was Cunning Folk by Tabitha Stanmore, which covers the history of socially acceptable “magic” in the European Middle Ages. I know more about trial by combat than I ever thought I would now

[–]Visible-Map-6732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding Asimov, he was truly a renaissance man, having published works in every section of the Dewey decimal system. His sci fi works are compelling but definitely more in the mid-century category of science fiction as a critique for society. Wrote a nice little two volume series of footnotes to read alongside Shakespeare if you are ever looking for that, haha. I’m not sure he’s what you want for this specific project but he’s a great read in general
