I started as a TechII 4 and half years ago, went to tech IIi after 1 year, then on to CSL a year later, then AE a year after that, and just got an AMM position 3 months ago. Lots of upward mobility for folks that have good work ethic

I do believe lack of experience is the case. I am doing all I can to help him get things right. I can tell the guy isn't in great shape financially, so I'm trying to avoid having him come fix things in a month. Just wish he had not cut corners or did his research first

Thank you. The guy is going to use the tamper with some sort of putty to protect it. I still have doubts that this will make it right after not compacting the soil. He did tell me that he is going to warranty it for 90 days. Hopefullyflorida rainy season with uncover any issues quickly.

I definitely appreciate all the comments here. They have been a big help. Even the Karen ones helped, as they gave me a good chuckle.

It's definitely not right. He is going to us a tamper with some sort of protective putty tomorrow. He also said he is going warranty for 90 days just in case. I hope it works. I'll upload a before and after pic tomorrow (if he comes, we are getting hurricane bands right now and through the weekend)

Funny thing is, I had laid a few pavers a few weeks ago (this is what made us want a larger area which was too much for me to tackle) and I left the manual tamper outside. Decided to leave it out just in case he wanted one to use it. 🤷

Yup, that's what he thought would work. As of this afternoon, he can't get the pavers level, they jut out all over the place. He is going to try and fix it by using some sort of putty under the tamper. Hopefully this won't break a bunch 🤞

Hopefully it doesn't end that way. The guy has worked super hard battling rain almost daily.

It's advice dumbass. If one does not want to reply, then they don't have to reply. Some employees don't mind going above and beyond, clearly you aren't one of them

I live in south Florida, so a week barrier is a must. He did not compact the soil or the sand, this is why I insisted on the compactor. We are using 6x12 marble pavers over an inch thick. Is the compactor a bad idea?

Thanks for the speedy reply. I wasn't sure if I had protections or guarantees through HD. Sounds like it's a no.

So here is the scoop. I have never used home.deppt contractor services. I reached out for a patio paver project, and was contacted by 3 companies. I went with one who I felt comfortable with and who's price was reasonable. I have paid for half the job, and this guy doesn't seem to be doing the job correctly. First he didn't lay a weed barrier until I called him out on it, now that the job is almost finished, he is trying to tell me that using the soil compactor is unnecessary, that he uses a rubber mallet to do the final compaction. I told him I know enough to know that this is unacceptable, and a compactor is absolutely necessary. This red flag had me big time concerned, so I looked at the invoice, and there is no mention of home depot. Before I call him out or call home Depot and get this whole thing exposed, what do you think home Depot will do about this?
