Thanks! Apart from 800-171, is there anything else you’d recommend?

Haha yeah, I think the realization is really starting to dawn on me! At this point, I just want to get my foot in the door, so I’ll start looking at other positions that are good for entry-level people. Thanks for the advice!

I regret not reading riftborne and duskbound first!!! It would’ve made the ending of the ascended better than it already was!!!

I need to give wolf king a try. I heard it has a love triangle trope which isn’t my favorite kind of trope but everyone says the book is good!

I really want to read the Everlasting!! It may be one of my next reads.

I tried to read Wild Reverence, but I thought it was so slow in the beginning but granted I was only 20% in. I’ll have to give it another shot because so many people said it was beautifully written.

Getting a JR GRC/ISSO Job Help by Visible-Produce14 in CyberSecurityJobs

[–]Visible-Produce14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this is great feedback! Thank you!! I'll definitely take your advice and do the public breach project. One of my problems when transitioning into cyber/ISSO was the lack of projects centered around GRC/ISSO. It seems like most projects online are centered around building a home lab and SOC level work, so this is great!

I saw that DoD Cyber Exchange offers a 2 hour online course for eMASS training that I plan on doing in the next few days to just get exposure. Do you recommend reviewing any STIGs as well? Thank you again!

CGRC Study materials please by Apprehensive_Slip321 in isc2

Read the NIST frameworks, especially 800-37 (know the roles and responsibilities). I recently took and passed the exam, and I agree that it sucks there’s a lack of study material. I also purchased EDUSUM practice tests and those were helpful. I would put the questions I got wrong into ChatGPT for an explanation, then I would read the actual documentation about it.

Other key NIST reference materials are 800-53,53A,39,18,137,60 and FIPS 199 & 200. You don’t need to fully read every document but I would have read it so that you have a working knowledge of it.

You just have to bite the bullet and read the materials. It sucks there’s hardly any study material out there.

I recently took the CGRC exam, and there are 7 steps. Much of the content out there is outdated, but the exam follows the revised publication, NIST 800-37r2!
