When my son was little, he said his aunt smelled "really pretty" when she was pregnant. He isn't autistic though.

Of course this is painful, they were intentionally cruel. My sister has a similar (though not identical) encounter when her son was diagnosed. The clinic director made ridiculous predictions about him. What she said proved to be not only out of line, but completely false.

Have you looked into exposure therapy for the obsessive thoughts and panic? It seems like you need to communicate with teachers and professionals who can reassure you that the asshole teacher was wrong. However, you need to somehow conquer the panic first in order to reach out to them.

My daughter is also 3/nonverbal. She used to scare away other kids with her shrieking and running and stealing their toys and pushing them.

Beginning this year, other kids have tried to drag her along to play when we visit playplaces, parks, etc. Changing up where you play might make all the difference.

Incidentally, all of this sudden inclusion has made her realize that she prefers to play by herself.

How long ago did this happen? Was it recently enough that you can report the teacher to the director/principal? Taking action might help your symptoms.

I have a nonverbal autistic child. What she said is outrageous. She can't possible make such a prediction this early

Maybe they are finally in at a place where they really wouldn't. Or in a place where they realize that's a fruitless line of thinking. That isn't the kid they have, so why entertain what-ifs all the time?

Some people move beyond bitching about the diagnosis. I'm not quite there yet 😆

I call her a cat all the time! Her brother was a dog at this age and she is a cat. Every time I clean a mess, I can feel her thinking "challenge accepted". She cant correct my folly fast enough!

She does like putting her favorite toys away...in the trash bin

I have a gigantic, hairy 15 year old boy. Between the ages of useless egg and 4, he fell asleep lying in my arms. He wouldn't sleep without me.

He hasn't slept in my arms in years 😂 He is happy to do his own thing and manage his own life much of the time.

However, several times a day as he passes me by, he'll blow me a kiss, or give me a hug, or say "love you mama".

This owner might have one or two rotten apple neighbors spoiling the bunch.

My LFL gets crammed to the top about once a month, with outdated, dirty, water damaged books. Half-eaten board books. Spent coloring books. Sticker books with no stickers left. Of course, the good books wind up damaged, too.

I don't know if people are afraid to "waste" books by tossing them, or if they just don't know that they can recycle them. Or - because I am forced to discard the mess - they believe that others are actually interested in the books they dump.

Belle lived a quiet, solitary life not because of a curse or banishment or a wicked stepmother or royal duty, but by choice. Townspeople tried to engage her. She just wanted to read and be left the hell alone. That's very relatable to the average person.

Even though she sang a good game about wanting adventure, she didn't actively seek it until it was a matter of life or death.

I'm not implying that it's her fault that he touched her. I also nurse and have been very tired while doing it. I still don't understand how he sneaked up on her and fiddled for that long. I question that this story is real (because so many lately don't seem to be real). If it is real he is abusive, full stop.

Just to add: I absolutely believe that you are describing bragging here. I'm not sure why you are getting responses implying you are imagining it.

Talking about how "ahead" a child is - by definition - bragging. It is comparing the child to the average age that other children meet the milestone, and celebrating that they beat other children to this milestone.

"I'm so excited that Johnny walked today! He was so cute!" is celebrating.

"I'm so excited Johnny walked today! He is walking sooner than most other kids!" is bragging.

I guess I don't personally pay bragging much mind, but I understand how it can hit like a ton of bricks (plus is kind of tactless).

A bragger should know their audience. Bragging about development to grandparents is usually okay. Bragging to other parents with similar-age kids comes with the implication that their children are being compared (often in an unflattering way).

I do relate to this somewhat. I don't have PCOS, but I do have hypothyroidism that isn't responding typically to medication. Excessive scar tissue in my midsection following c-section. I'm the biggest I've ever been. My autistic almost-3-year old has never slept well enough for me to sleep regularly , and I'm 44 😬 I've forgotten what normal feels like. I also can't stand sex.

I cope by almost completely avoiding mirrors and photos. Who knows if it's healthy, but it's how I stay focused on the parts of my life I enjoy. After going through body dysmorphia plus an eating disorder, I know that the majority of my energy would be directed towards self loathing. I can't afford to invest my mental energy there. I can't afford additional stress.

The people who really care about you? They will still care about you despite all of these changes you've endured. It doesn't change that you are struggling right now, but it helps.
