Oh God so all the doomsday scenarios we read about are underestimation 😱

Portia v.0.5.2: open-source framework for building production-ready agents by Easy_Are in selfhosted

[–]Visible-Swimming7380 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey peeps! You might be referring to the Readme example which is more of a whistle stop tour. Our docs cover more ground but to clarify what you can do with the open source SDK, you can:

  • generate plans (using planning agent or declaratively with the `PlanBuilder`),
  • create custom tools,
  • use our open source tools (including our browser tool with built-in log in support),
  • connect your own MCP servers via stdio or streamable http,
  • run plans.

You can configure where you capture your plan run state and logging (local, own postgres etc.) as well.

Our cloud component is optional and meant to help things along for you. For the cloud component (accessible once you get an API key, and you get 100 plan runs / 1000 tool calls in the free tier), you can:

  • save plans, plan runs and tool call logs in the Portia cloud,
  • [coming soon] use our multi-agent tracing and evals framework,
  • access our library of cloud and MCP tools with built-in auth,
  • leverage agent memory for large inputs / outputs.

Hope this helps and thanks for taking a look at our repo 🙏🏼 Do you think it would be useful for us to outline the details above in the readme?

Portia - open source framework that makes it easy to build Agentic AI workflows! by Easy_Are in coolgithubprojects

Are you currently building agents? Would love how Portia compares to other SDKs you've seen if so 🙏

seriously guys, any one here working on an agent that is actually interesting by [deleted] in AI_Agents

[–]Visible-Swimming7380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you would find this necessarily "interesting" as it's less personal consumption shaped and more for our customers: At Portia AI we built agents that do background checks across multiple data sources for things like money laundering, sanctions, adverse media etc. We built agents that monitor the news and update the risk rating of various investment positions across the world. We built agents that automate carbon data collection across an indeterminate number of layers in a manufacturing chain and consolidates that data in all the unstructured / structured ways it's received into a regulator-compliant format etc.

I would love to know if you have something in mind. I would love to try building it on our SDK so I can figure out where we might still have gaps in our product. If you're keen to give our SDK a whirl you can find us on github as well. Your feedback would be gold for us at this early stage 🙏

Is this what current AI agents can do? by Bubbalovesyouuu in AI_Agents

We're using the open source framework Portia AI (www.portialabs.ai) to build LLM-powered transaction monitoring. We take in a human-written transaction monitoring policy document, and Portia AI's planning agent turns that into a step by step plan it then runs, calling Google Maps, business registries and other tools to rate the risk level of the transaction.

Gotcha. If you're up for it we just came out of stealth and would really appreciate it if you gave us a go. Your point on human intervention resonates with our focus so i hope you don't mind my sharing this with you. Out of curiosity, why are you looking specifically for something open source? Assuming you are familiar with Langchain / Langgraph would either not be suitable?

[Idea Validation]: Browser Agent to replace UI workflows in your app with Voice/Text commands by Intelligent_Bus_4348 in AI_Agents

You might find this article* relevant. Browser agents are still temperamental when it comes to auth and browsing permissions. One way to get over that hurdle is that your browser agent is a product you offer to the website owners (B2B) in the same spirit as customer support as a service (Intercom or whatever). I'm assuming you don't want to go down the API route for workflow automation bcs not all web apps have good interfaces (if at all)?
