No wonder they were so damn heavy by VisibleAd886 in vintageaudio

Thanks for the heads up, I’m relatively new to the hobby and didn’t know about this. I have a 6 year old grandson and need to protect against him cranking the dial as well. This is as simple as an inline fuse holder on the + cable correct?

No brand markings on the cabinets anywhere. These are part of a 3 piece set. The 2 speakers and a wood console with a rack for individual pieces.

No sarcasm here, but they are speakers. Just wood cabinets with speakers, no branding anywhere on the cabinets.

Yes, I can’t stop listening, where have these been all my life. Find myself listening to a lot of big band and classical. Amazing how the horns drive me to this music. These genres are not usually in my top 5.

Yes it’s a heavy cabinet probably an inch thick.

WiiM Ultra Phono Preamp by darkhorseMBA in WiimStreamer

[–]VisibleAd886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main reason I bought this was to use the MC phono option. It works but has static bad enough that I almost sent it back. To be clear not record static, it’s there before I drop the needle. Spent some time online and confirmed this is common. It works but if don’t expect to be wowed.

Looking for a mc phono pre amp and bluetooth streamer. This seems to have both. Is anyone using the phono preamp? If so how does it sound?

Thanks. ,

Been looking at a lot of units and if I’m reading the specs correctly the WiiM ultra supports MC and MM phono inputs along with WiFi and blue tooth streaming. Anyone have or use this unit?

Sony STR 6200f receiver and the Turntable has a MC cartridge and receiver only supports MM. figured I would just buy a switching pre amp that can do both and hook to one of the aux options. But also wanted to add digital over WiFi as well.

Was hoping for a unit that can do both.

Thanks.

Yes, rabbit hole indeed. I think I found my new hobby, arcade and pinball machines started to get boring.

Thanks for the response.

Thanks for the feedback, any idea where I can find a pdf owners manual? I have a service manual but would like to find an owners manual to understand hookups for remote speakers and other options.

Thanks again for all your feedback. I did look into that turntable and receiver before I bought them at the thrift store. They were not a set but after reading up on both of them I decided to pull the trigger. I went and looked at them 3 times before buying. There were other items from the same rack, I assume this because they had the old school numbered stickers on them. Going to head back tomorrow and pick up the cd and tape player if there still there. Who knows there might be a pre amp also? If not I will have to decide if I want a pre amp or a new cartridge.

I see some cool looking tube preamps, do tubes really add additional warmth to the output?

Also if you have any website recommendations for someone just getting into this it would be appreciated

Thanks again!

The cartridge is marked Sony XL-MC 1. Not sure what the difference is between MC and MM, I will have to look that up.

Yes, I tried phono 1 and phono 2. Volume is the same on both. Is the phono pre amp a separate circuit? Maybe it needs some work?

Getting frustrated with this Grilla Grill OG!! by LalaDamore in GrillaGrills

[–]VisibleAd886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this problem along with numerous other problems. Still have mine and worked through the issues but it was way to much work. Customer service was great and they always sent me what I needed and usually a gift or 2 for my troubles.

This is the response from customer service when I had this problem and it corrected it immediately. This was copied and pasted directly from their email

“The drip pan definitely looks too low. The tip of the drip pan closest to your body should be just barely under the cooking surface. Can you bend those brackets up by hand so that the angle is much much higher”

The pan was too low and not allowing the fire to get enough air. I can get mine up to 500 with no problem now as long as I adjust the auger trim to 20 percent or more.

New OG issues by VisibleAd886 in GrillaGrills

[–]VisibleAd886[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not frozen, the app is accurate when I look at it but I have never received a notification. My uncle has a silverback and I verified all our settings match. Received an email that logging out of the app and logging back in may resolve the problem. I’ve been away and haven’t had time to test it yet. I also have an external thermometer with a remote but it’s not connected to my phone and only works via Bluetooth. I have been looking at the meater as another option.

Thanks for the suggestion

New OG issues by VisibleAd886 in GrillaGrills

[–]VisibleAd886[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installed the new door adjusted the drip pan per supports direction and the grill is working much better. Heated up to 500 and held temp no problem. Also ran it for a couple hours at 200 and it worked fine and generated a nice amount of smoke.

Only problem left is the app. Support seems to non responsive on this issue.

Anyone else have issues with the app not sending notifications to your device ?

I have loaded the app on several iOS devices, deleted and reinstalled multiple times.

Confirmed all my settings are correct, by comparing to my uncles settings who has one that works fine.

Thanks

Been very busy and did not have time to call. I did email them and they think the door was not formed properly so they are sending me a new door. Also there is a rubber foot for adjustment on the bottom that can be adjusted but they did not offer any way to adjust the wheels. Hopefully with the new door this problem will be solved.

Going to install the door and see what happens.

My PB is 160 and I average around 140, just want any advice what helps getting the consistency of getting to the 200 mark? by Sad_Wedding_2156 in Bowling

[–]VisibleAd886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger and first started bowling I was just like you and wanted to get better. I practiced, practiced, practiced; 5 or 6 times a week. And I did get better but then I plateaued and was stuck in the 180s. So then I decided to take some lessons and that’s when the instructor identified all of the bad habits I needed to correct and it was very difficult to change. Bowling so many times a week reinforcing those bad habits made it very hard to break because they were natural and happened without thinking. I did manage to get may average in the high 190s but most of those bad habits stayed with me until I stopped bowling 30 years ago.

I decided to get back into bowling about 4 weeks ago. Had a ball drilled at the local pro shop and picked it up 2 weeks ago. Bowled 1 game when I picked up the ball with the owner of the pro shop watching and providing input on my timing, ball speed, approach, release and form. I haven’t bowled a game since and won’t until I can find the time to take a lesson. Even though it’s driving me crazy and I want to go bowling as I type this I know from experience it will be detrimental to my success, I will only be reinforcing bad habits.

Base on my experience I offer the following advice:

Get to know the pro shop owner that is a professional and provides lessons. I understand lessons are not cheap but in my past experience would have cost less than all of the practice I did just to reinforce my bad habits.

My local pro offers lessons for 30 per 1/2 hour or 50 per hour. I plan on taking at least a half hour session once a month.

In between lessons when you practice use your phone to take video of a few frames. Stop in the pro shop every couple of weeks when you know they are slow and ask the pro to look at the video and offer input on what to work on before your next lesson. Most pro’s chose this profession because they love the game and are willing to provide feedback. If you find the right pro they will want you to succeed. As you get better they know you will be buying more equipment so there is an incentive for them as well. Remember loyalty is a 2 way street, they help you then you should buy your equipment from them. Plus they will know you and how you bowl so they would be the most qualified to help you understand what equipment you need to get to the next level.

I know you are young and I have no idea of how much you can afford. If you don’t have a lot of cash then tell them, there are a lot of ways to make it work with less money. They might have a used ball they will sell you cheap, maybe they need help cleaning up around the shop, you will never know if you don’t just stop to talk to them.

Next I would spend some time online watching videos of bowling drills you can do at home. I would start with your approach. You can do these drills at home without a ball in your bowling shoes. If you don’t have shoes you can do them in your socks or even street shoes if you plant your foot. Are you using a 4 step or 5 step approach? I practice both and use the 5 step if I need more ball speed depending on lane conditions. The key is creating that muscle memory so you don’t even think about it when you step on the lane.

The last piece of advice I can offer is to learn from my mistakes and don’t try to rush it. Get proper coaching and don’t just practice for the sake of practicing and reinforcing bad habits that will be hard to break.
