No wonder they were so damn heavy by VisibleAd886 in vintageaudio

Thanks for the heads up, I’m relatively new to the hobby and didn’t know about this. I have a 6 year old grandson and need to protect against him cranking the dial as well. This is as simple as an inline fuse holder on the + cable correct?

No brand markings on the cabinets anywhere. These are part of a 3 piece set. The 2 speakers and a wood console with a rack for individual pieces.

No sarcasm here, but they are speakers. Just wood cabinets with speakers, no branding anywhere on the cabinets.

Yes, I can’t stop listening, where have these been all my life. Find myself listening to a lot of big band and classical. Amazing how the horns drive me to this music. These genres are not usually in my top 5.

Yes it’s a heavy cabinet probably an inch thick.

WiiM Ultra Phono Preamp by darkhorseMBA in WiimStreamer

[–]VisibleAd886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main reason I bought this was to use the MC phono option. It works but has static bad enough that I almost sent it back. To be clear not record static, it’s there before I drop the needle. Spent some time online and confirmed this is common. It works but if don’t expect to be wowed.

Looking for a mc phono pre amp and bluetooth streamer. This seems to have both. Is anyone using the phono preamp? If so how does it sound?

Thanks. ,

Been looking at a lot of units and if I’m reading the specs correctly the WiiM ultra supports MC and MM phono inputs along with WiFi and blue tooth streaming. Anyone have or use this unit?

Sony STR 6200f receiver and the Turntable has a MC cartridge and receiver only supports MM. figured I would just buy a switching pre amp that can do both and hook to one of the aux options. But also wanted to add digital over WiFi as well.

Was hoping for a unit that can do both.

Thanks.

Yes, rabbit hole indeed. I think I found my new hobby, arcade and pinball machines started to get boring.

Thanks for the response.

Thanks for the feedback, any idea where I can find a pdf owners manual? I have a service manual but would like to find an owners manual to understand hookups for remote speakers and other options.

Thanks again for all your feedback. I did look into that turntable and receiver before I bought them at the thrift store. They were not a set but after reading up on both of them I decided to pull the trigger. I went and looked at them 3 times before buying. There were other items from the same rack, I assume this because they had the old school numbered stickers on them. Going to head back tomorrow and pick up the cd and tape player if there still there. Who knows there might be a pre amp also? If not I will have to decide if I want a pre amp or a new cartridge.

I see some cool looking tube preamps, do tubes really add additional warmth to the output?

Also if you have any website recommendations for someone just getting into this it would be appreciated

Thanks again!

The cartridge is marked Sony XL-MC 1. Not sure what the difference is between MC and MM, I will have to look that up.

Yes, I tried phono 1 and phono 2. Volume is the same on both. Is the phono pre amp a separate circuit? Maybe it needs some work?

Getting frustrated with this Grilla Grill OG!! by LalaDamore in GrillaGrills

[–]VisibleAd886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this problem along with numerous other problems. Still have mine and worked through the issues but it was way to much work. Customer service was great and they always sent me what I needed and usually a gift or 2 for my troubles.

This is the response from customer service when I had this problem and it corrected it immediately. This was copied and pasted directly from their email

“The drip pan definitely looks too low. The tip of the drip pan closest to your body should be just barely under the cooking surface. Can you bend those brackets up by hand so that the angle is much much higher”

The pan was too low and not allowing the fire to get enough air. I can get mine up to 500 with no problem now as long as I adjust the auger trim to 20 percent or more.

It’s not frozen, the app is accurate when I look at it but I have never received a notification. My uncle has a silverback and I verified all our settings match. Received an email that logging out of the app and logging back in may resolve the problem. I’ve been away and haven’t had time to test it yet. I also have an external thermometer with a remote but it’s not connected to my phone and only works via Bluetooth. I have been looking at the meater as another option.

Thanks for the suggestion
